yes gnomie report it, its better to be safe then sorry. while it is a parents responsibility to protect their own child, it doesn't mean that all parents are responsible. and as a society if we can't help protect all children, then what good are we? |

No.
The child's PARENTS should be doing that. |

Who defines "innappropriate"? What is the word? |
|

Ashlie Babie

depends what the word is...and how bad of a word it is...it also depends how young the child is
also, young children shouldnt be browsing around randomly on YA.... |

I try to live in a world in which it is a child's parents' responsibility to raise him, not the internet's. |

If its just a curse word then no.
My god. |

I thought profanity was already censored by Yahoo. |

Leading a sheltered life is not wise. If inappropriate language is the worst the child is ever exposed to---it must be a golden child. |

Who determines if a word is innopropriate. I'm sure the have already herd it in today's society. If they have turned on tv and watched something other than Disney or Nickelodeon then sure they have heard it. |

Report whatever you want. What child? |

If you find it inappropriate you can always report it..doesn't mean it will be taken down |

Well, it would be more appropriate to report the parents since they should take responsibility and know what the hell their kids are doing online. |

Children should be monitored using the net. Parents should determine what their children see, not others. If you feel the word it is wrong for children then report it to Y answers. I don't know that it will do any good, I reported to them the person who wanted to commit suicide and got no response. I am very glad I posted the National Hotline for this person. So do what your conscious leads you to do. |

No children under 15 arent supposed to be on here. If they are older than that theyve prolly heard it all already. Over protecting kids will only set them up for failure in the long run. You arent going to be able to get rid of the mean, foul mouthed boss. . . and reporting is petty anyway. Freedom of speech? Plus, all it will do is send a little email, and all they have to do is click "delete". |

Sigh Co

No. I think the person who lets their child in a place where the child could be exposed to an inappropriate word is wrong. |

How much damage can a single innopropriate word do? |

no,they probably hear worst at school from other kids anyway |

I agree with Alana what u find not appropriate as a parent someone else may not. It's very aggravating to me too,U hav a lot of very young parents out there that think certain things that allow their kids to say and do r cute, until it turns around and slaps them in FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |

Well I wouldnt report it, I would just tell the one who wrote it to tone it down. |

You mean on here? If you think it violates the Terms of Service, go ahead. Yahoo! is allowed to regulate the content of this site. Flag it if you want to and include a short note as to why. If Yahoo! finds that it is in violation, they'll remove it. If not, no harm done. |

I think you should, because that is considered being mean or obscene according to the Community Guidelines. And we should have respect for the many people that don't want to see bad words too. |

First world problems. I've yet to hear of a child traumatised by viewing an 'inappropriate' word, and if they are, that's certainly not going to be their primary challenge in navigating life.
Your heart's in the right place, but that's really the best mission you can think of to improve the world for children? I'm sure a lot of that reporting time would be valued more by a children's charity. |
