by the way there is a difference between the meanings of decriminalize and legalize..redhead genius..they are two diff. words.

decriminalize-is the abolition of criminal penalties in relation to certain acts, perhaps retroactively, though perhaps regulated permits or fines might still apply

legalize-is the process of removing a legal prohibition against something which is currently not legal.

making something less illegal with lower penalties as opposed to something that would be free of all penalties.

you know damn well all the research that was done on marijuana would not support that statement plus you know what, learn grammar number one, people drive now..i never heard someone getting killed from marijuana or car accidents resulting of unless something else was involved.

there couldn't possibly be more violence, abuse, and vehicular manslaughtar than that caused by alcohol...

they should bring back prohibition all together if thats the case..i don't drink and i feel it's dangerous for society..how about that then....does that sound fair?

what the hell does that mean? that people who smoke pot completely lack judgement than those who drink alcohol or swallow a handful of valium..which professionals probably do anyway..more doctors are arrested or stripped of their ability to practice because of pain killer addiction..where do you come from?

oh we are just a bunch of hippies running around lookin to smoke all day every day..no one will work, hands will get chopped off, kids will be molested...give me a break

It would be good for our economy, and reduce government expenditures by a LOT. It would also reduce the number of people in our jails by a lot, which would further reduce the amount of money the government spends.

But as you can see, there are still enough people that don't understand the pros and cons well enough that it won't happen yet. Another couple generations and I'm sure it will be legalized or at least decriminalized. A lot of the younger people are realizing that it's safer than alcohol, and that the war on drugs is a failure.

Ask a cop when the last time somebody tried to fight him because they were high on pot (and nothing else), and he'll tell you never. Ask him the last time somebody tried to fight him because they were drunk, and he'll look at his watch.

Alcohol makes people feel more confident, and they don't recognize their impairments (think how many jokes there are about drunk guys trying to pick up girls, and how badly they fail). When people smoke pot, they are more aware of their impairment and it doesn't make them angry or argumentative. They might be lazy bums and waste their lives, but you won't find them beating their wives or driving 100mph.

I don't think that should be up to him. Right now, its not the biggest issue our country is facing. We should focus more on major issues, like foreign policy and the economy.

Decriminalize= People caught with marijuana (WHO ARE NOT COMMITTING A CRIME AT THE SAME TIME) will not be hauled into jail. Instead, they may go through some sort of rehab or drug court. If they are caught again, their punishment may be more severe. I prefer this choice. It gives offenders a clean slate, a chance to get better. However, if they break the rules again, they will pay the consequences.

Legalize= Marijuana will be made completely legal (like alcohol and tobacco). Most likely, there will be an age restriction on who can by it, but otherwise, there will be no penalty for those who use it. I think legalizing marijuana will lead to major problems. Marijuana is a gateway drug and addictive. Although it will take money from the drug dealers that sell it, it may cause problems for our country.
