Here are my supported reasons that pot should be legalized:
Reason 1: It will keep alot of people out of jail. Nearly 800,000 Americans are arrested on marijuana charges each year - that's one arrest every 40 seconds. And 9 out of 10 arrests are for possession, not sales.
Reason 2: It will supply people legal jobs. Face the facts people like pot, and they buy it for a massive amount of money. That massive amount of money can give the economy a ginormously huge boost that we really are striving for.
Reason 3: The federal and State spent over $29,788,357,677 on trying to stop drug affairs. If we made pot legal alot of this money can be put to schools, medicare for the elderly, and fixing up broken cities and families. In other words THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER.
Reason 4: It's the person with the blunt or what ever they use choice, if they want to be stupid go right ahead, it's your life they're messing up not mine.
I never plain on using pot. But, it's really about being free to make mistakes and to live up to them. In my eyes pot isn't bad, it's when you over dose. You can over dose on over the counter meds even Red Bull for Pete's sake, is the government going to restrict that too? We need freedom in America, Freedom is power. We are the government, so if you don't like it change it.
I have to add never believe the media, they hype up everything to get your attention. People these days will believe anything the media gives them, that's why I never watch t.v. and I avoid those lame magizines. |

Im not a smoker of cannabis myself and i don't see the problem with it, apparently it hasn't killed anyone, you can't overdose on it, its not addictive and it helps relieve pain from injuries and is used for medicinal purposes in societies like today full of stress and overworked people it looks like cannabis is the solution to alot of problems. |

'street' drugs are only labeled as 'bad' because the pharmaceutical companies aren't making any money off of them ... if Marijuana was discovered in some jungle today it would be hailed as the new miracle drug, marketed, and dispensed legally without a second thought |

Yes, I do. But the entire tax thing is the whole problem. Weed is illegal because the government can not figure out how to put a tax on it. I hate those idiotic commericals by Above the Influence. They spread lies about weed. Like i'm going to go get kicked by a horse just because i'm high? What the hell. And it doesn't make you hallucinate.

Yes I think marijuana should be legalized and here is why. I have never indulged myself with pot enough that I thought I could fly, dance on tables, fight, black out, or cause any trouble at all. Now, you let someone get alcohol in their system and all the above happens. Also, when authorities say marijuana is the cause of death in a traffic accident it is most likely mixed with other drugs including alcohol. This goes down in the books as an accident resulting from marijuana use when it isn't. If you take out all the accidents that include other drugs then the amount of deaths and accidents decrease dramatically to about the same as normal accidents. Legalizing pot also makes it less cool to smoke for teenagers as the main purpose most kids do it now is to be "cool." Since the affects last longer than cigarettes, then most people wouldn't smoke as much pot as they do cigarettes which would eliminate most of the second hand smoke( not to mention it is illegal to smoke inside most public places.) If you think legalizing marijuana will lead to cocaine then your overreacting. So again I say legalize it and tax the hell out of it so we can spend it on school systems. I don't smoke cigarettes and havent smoked weed in 6 months which makes these decisions my personal choice because marijuana is not addictive. |

Of courrrrrrrrse government could tax it and make billions from the revenue. It would be expensive, but legal. and to the girl above me who said "if it is overused, it kills" - you are wrong on all levels. Not one time has pot ever been overdosed on. Only seven people have ever died from smoking pot and having it be the main factor for getting into a fatal accident for any reason. check your facts.

Yes it should be legalized for the simple fact that the value of it would go down and then it would not be worth as much. Of course, the government is making too much money to make it legal. They know the risks. |
