Don't bother with a trial, just execute them.

If you define what you mean by a "terrorist" AND what they've been found guilty OF then we can maybe get somewhere. Please advise, otherwise implode yourself. |

I heartily agree with the answer above -
Not in my name
Any country which still has the death penalty within its judicial system must consider itself barely civilized and perhaps barbaric and brutal. Taking a life is not acceptable whichever side of the judicial seesaw one is on.
The chance that one might hang one innocent person in order to punish ten guilty people is not an acceptable risk.
The fact that in the USA in Texas capital punishment is used by politicians more readily at election time must say something detrimental about the political system in Texas.
Frankly no one with any degree of humanity can advocate the death sentence ever. Furthermore it seems to escape us that todays terrorist is often tomorrows freedom fighter - this is true of Nelson Mandela who under this philosophy would never had survived to lead the South African nation out of apartheid. It may have been a far bloodier battle without Mandela at the helm - so saving one terrorists life eventually saved the lives of thousands of people. |

Nope. They're willing to die already so death means nothing to them. They should be tortured slowly until death. Then videos should be taped and aired.
As demoralizing and messed up that is, it should happen. People need to be made an example of. |

"Terrorist" is a label. The sentence that a person receives should depend on the crime that he has committed. For example, Osama Bin Laden's driver got five years. Was he a terrorist? I think it depends on who you ask. But the sentence was based on examination of all the evidence and the severity of the crimes he committed. |

Terrorist is a very overused term. If found guilty of what? If a person in Iraq shots back at an American that is attacking them, I guess they could be killed by that American, or killed by the American government.
I'm sad for the soldiers sent over to fight this war, and I'm not thinking of an Iraqi resistance fighter as a terrorist.
Now if someone is in America, and they are found guilty of attempting to commit sabotage, that is truly a terrorist act. I will not judge anyone, I will let the courts decide. |

The death penalty does not act as a deterrent. Texas has the highest rate of executions in the United States, and it also has the highest crime rate. If the death penalty acted as a deterrent, the crime rate in Texas would be low. However, it costs taxpayers billions of dollars a year to keep inmates fed, clothed, and sheltered, as well as any medical treatment the inmates might need. I support the death penalty if it is clear that the offending inmate has no potential for rehabilitation. |

Yes! And Carry M, the death penalty is not a deterrent. It is simply punishment. There are no practical deterrents for crime except the human brain and experience. |

I'd love that to happen but it may not be a good idea because then they'd be seen as martyrs and other people may feel drawn to their cause. |

It is a sign of a civilised society that they have moved beyond an eye for an eye.
The idea of killing people legally is totally barbaric, but then so is shackling people and having them squat for hours on end.
What does puzzle me though is all the people who are totally against capital punishment yet are pro abortion?
Murder is murder no matter how you try to justify it.
In the case of terrorists death is what they seek, so if you want to give them their dream...... |
