Should an 18 year old woman be hanged for murdering a man who befriended her conjoined twin?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should an 18 year old woman be hanged for murdering a man who befriended her conjoined twin?

what would be the legal ethics if there were such a case. What would be the procedure for carrying out the execution since only one of the twins is guilty of murder and under sentence of death and the other one isn't? Do we kill both twins to punish the guilty one? Or do we let the guilty one get away with murder?
Additional Details
Surgical seperation is suggested a solution. However for these pair of twins they can not be separated and both kept alive. Further problem for the case is the one who would die is not the one who committed the murder

Therefore as of now the twins will be taken to the gallows and the noose will be put around the neck of the woman who committed the murder and the execution will be carried out

This doesn't just apply to death penalty - any custodial punishment involving a conjoined twin or even probation would have the same dilemma, right?

The punishment would obviously not be a death penalty in this case. They have to use discretion when sentencing? In this case they would determine a more suitable punishment. I have no idea what that would be because even life imprisonment would be unfair on the conjoined twin. This would be an incredibly difficult area and they would have to decide very carefully what to do. Anyway I'm glad I don't live in a country with the death penalty.

Oh and the other issue - how could they prove one twin did it and not the other? Probably they would end up convicting both as they couldn't prove who did it, unless the guilty one confessed and the other agreed. Also, the other could possibly be an accessory depending on her level of involvement.

You're assuming death penalty is the only penalty.

well now, where did this happen?? the middle east is the first answer, if it happened at all. i think the arabic laws are now the laughing stock, albeit deadly, of the world.

WOW! Very interesting. UMMM; hmmmm, well. . .

yeah, maybe they can just give the one a lethal injection. Or pay for an operation, or something.

I don't think it would be possible for a case like this to happen though. Really, how would a conjoined twin kill someone anyway?

interesting scenario.

for me, i wouldn't exactly leave the guilty one unpunished. may be she could do something else that won't inconvenient her twin.

Why would you kill someone for befriending your twin, and what if it was the innocent twin the neck belonged to.

If it is surgically possible kill the other twin.. separate them but give the one who is innocent the most essential organs.. I'm sure it is possible in most cases. If not then just behead the other twin and stitch up the area where the head used to be. BAM PROBLEM SOLVED!

Well obviously the "Innocent" twin isn't so innocent if she just stood back and let her sister kill another person. She should be labeled an accomplish, and they should both be in jail for X amount of years.
