if an exhausted or confused person or one with encephalitis goes to ER with suicidal ideation, destroying dr.s ethics and families around America ?

Go to WND and look at that ignorance. Pure idiots all over America thinking up legal ways to murder folks.

How often though could this legally assisted suicide be abused and used to kill people that would not really die ? To much room for evil and doubt for my comfort zone, especially when pharmaceuticals themselves can cause psychological issues.

well.if the person is dead without life support...i dunnno.
i say its ok to pull the plug in certain situations like when somone is just going to be a veg the rest of their life.

Nice trick question. Are you asking if assisted suicide is okay, or if assisted suicide with patients who aren't in their right mind is okay? If a patient is "exhausted" or "confused" then doctors should not do anything until the patient is in a more rational state.

However, there are many people who request help dying who are not in a compromised mental state. People with advanced forms of diseases that ultimately end in death and have no cure, people who are in severe pain with no hope of recovery--these people should not have to suffer just because some people can't understand the difference between helping someone who is in pain, and cold-blooded murder.

The question you are posing boils down to, "What gives a human being the right to think they can take another human being's life?"

Meanwhile, you're condemning people who ask, "What gives a human being the right to think they can deny another human being's intent to end his own life?"

It's a moral issue, and likely one with religious roots. Imposing your view on the public is hardly any better than having the opposite view imposed on the public... Either way, it's a case-by-case sort of concept. If someone has enough desire to actually seek the counsel of another person to do the deed, they've likely had time to make peace with all the details. It's hardly murder by any definition.

life is given by god and should be taken by no other..I think it really is a touchy subject. All of us have to answer to our actions,,If your willing to live with it then I guess its on the person who does it.

Where I live, euthanasia is legal, with stringent controls and checkpoints.

I realize that your question is fully biased against this, but if you have an open mind you might see the value in being able to choose how you leave.
