yes it is the cowards way out. what about those you leave behind? It is not fair to them. They have the mess to clean up emotional and in the room. I had a friend that had to clean up after his brother it was horrible. |

I think it's sad and heart breaking when someone thinks about killing themselves. I would think it would make their families feel guilty, helpless, and betrayed if they thought one of their loved ones was unhappy and they didn't get a chance to help them resolve their problems.
It doesn't matter if suicide is legal or not. If someone is truly hurting on the inside and they want to kill themselves. It won't matter what the law says. The bottom line is that people who has a death wish needs help and support rather than locking them up and labeling them as a criminal. The only crime in this matter is nobody not taking the time or the effort to find out what makes people so unhappy and disappointed with the world that they feel they need to kill themselves.

why?! Because life is a valuable thing, but that won't just be my excuse for ppl not to commit suicide or to make suicide become legal.
besides, other ppl have it worse than those who want to commit suicide.
i know some ppl who goes thru life in hard situations that are worser than other ppl and they are dealing with it instead of thinking about death.
whereas others think that committing suicide would bring attention to them. come on..make life easier for others by not committing suicide.
those who commit suicide are more of the ppl who dont have attention form their parents or their parents never understand them, which bring them into the deadliest thought of SUICIDE.
ppl shouldn't think about death that will be the results to end their problems. they shud think that their problems are something that should be confronted. most ppl commit suicide because they never find the right person who will understand them and they think no one will ever understand, help, or care about them.

It is. No one has ever been imprisoned for committing suicide. Attempted suicide is likewise not a crime in most states but is instead evidence of a dangerous mental illness and it results in committment to a mental health facility, not a prison. If we take your question literally, asking about future legislation, then there is little point in imprisoning someone who is already dead. |

For who, the one who does it? What are you going to do if he/she does, prosecute? It is illegal to assist with suicide. The last thing on the mind of a person who commits suicide is whether or not it is legal. |

Well people would still commit suicide whether its legal or not. People can't charge you for commiting suicide if it was illegal cause you'd already be dead! |

Suicide is murder and theoretically, punishable as attempted murder. However most failed suicide victims receive psychiatric help rather than incarceration. In fact I've never heard of anybody going to jail that tried and failed. If they succeed than the point is moot anyway. |

This is a tough one.
I think in a free country, folks ought to be free to make their own choices.
The problem is we tend to make bad choices in the heat of the moment, and later say to ourselves "what was I thinking".
There's no undoing suicide.
I don't know the answer, but if I had to choose I'd say yes, folks should be able to make choices - for better or for worse. |
