We live in a supposedly moral, sophisticated society so why do we still allow gambling?
I live in the U.K. and in any town or village there is always a place to gamble. Is there any benefit to society at all? I can't think of any, but the government seem to be happy for mass expansions of gambling.
If drug stores opened in every high street there would be uproar, so why not with gambling?
If it does have a place in society, what is it?
I know people don't have to gamble, but that is the same argument as saying people don't have to inject drugs. But if there were open stores in every town were people were allowed to use drugs, the amount of users would sky-rocket.
What does the government gain from allowing gambling? And more importantly, what does society gain?

Gambling is an agreement between two parties. They each believe they benefit, or it wouldn't occur. The benefit to society is irrelevant. Mind your own business. |
