Should marijuana be legal?

I personally don't smoke pot and I think it should be legalized. If they opened up shops for it it could definitely boost our economy and take money out of the hands of drug dealers. There are people who actually need it medically as well and for those who can't get it it would lessen the chance they have to deal with drug dealers. You can't overdose on it like you can with alcohol and that's legalized. I think that if they had rules and limitations like they do with alcohol then it could actually work out and if they think that it's a "gateway drug" it really isn't. Not many people who smoke pot would ever do anything harder and the people who do don't do it just because they smoked pot first. The TRUTH ads are completely untrue and they could say most of the things in those about alcohol as well. So saying all that I actually think it would be a good thing to be legalized.

It should be legal. definitely. both alcohol and cigarettes have much worse effects. No one has ever died directly from smoking weed.

Cops don't choose whether its legal or not, thats the government sweetie.
And the only reason Marijuana isn't legal is because the government doesn't make money off of it. So, good luck trying to convice them.

I hope it does become legal though, most of the idiots who smoke up just do it to be cool 'cause they're doing something illegal.

That **** was the reason why I broke up with my ex. That ****** up thing was the reason why I stopped calling him and eventually got depressed and cant get over my ex.

Drug is what its killing him now and he doesnt notice it. I love him and dont want him to get hurt. It is fine if he is not with me but its not fine if he is doing drugs. I love him however i stopped being with him just because of that ****. It is killing my darling. I still pray for him so somehow he wont do drugs.

If you want it legal, quit whining and start drafting legislation that will work. Get it on the ballot as a voter referendum by gathering signatures.

Personally, I think it is a bad idea on too many levels; but here are some things to think about your proposed legislation:

Who will be able to by?
Minimum age to buy.
DUI modifications.
Changing the possession laws.
Penalties for distributing marijuana to minors.
Taxation levels.
Penalties for distributing/selling marijuana without a license.
Modifications to the drug paraphernalia laws.
Who will set limits for THC content and quality assurance.

Probably. But not everybody does it! Everybody does it around you. Which means you're probably hanging out with a certain crew. Anyway, marijuana laws are ridiculous for sure. I don't smoke anymore but I think it's pretty harmless stuff. Just a big time waster that's all. And PS ... cops are *****. Not just with pot. With everything.

There would be fewer court cases involving marijuana charges. and those currently serving time could be released relieving the jail system

They should regulate it just like they do cigs. It will save lives and neighborhoods

I do disagree that it is better than cigs though. It has mind altering effects and can have a profound effect on ones ability to function in society, but no different than alcohol.

It's important for advocates to acknowledge that there are negative effect and be realistic and accept reasonable regulation.

Sure it should be legal. It was made illegal because it was associated with dirty Mexicans. Now we welcome dirty illegals into our country every day, so obviously the stigma doesn't apply anymore.

I don't smoke weed but I do think it should be legalized. There is so much profit to be had. The economy would be back on its feet in no time on weed sales alone. But they won't legalize it because it won't kill you. Thats why cigarettes are legal, because they kill you. Its population control. I have no facts. This is just my opinion.
