Should marijuana be legal and have the same laws as alcohol?

if we legalized marijuana it would pull if not start to pull us out of this debt crises because studies show illegal marijuana dealers in California make an estimate of 1.3 billion dollars a year. Put taxes on it and put it in stores basically any where beer is sold weed would be sold. This country(U.S.A) needs to realize that if they legalize marijuana they would make at minimum 65 billion dollars im gonna guess that 65 billion would probably be before taxes but think about it and put your opinion below
thank you

You're a little over the top, but I do agree. Legalizing marijuana and taxing the heck out of it would sure begin taking out a piece of that trillion dollar defecit my grandchildren will be paying off.
Growing it in the southern U.S. would open agricultural jobs, taxing it would supply money to the government (working that debt down), money could be saved prosecuting non-violent offenders (small time dealers and casual users), and it could be controlled just as alcohol is: 21+ to buy/use, taking away licenses for DUI's, illegal in the workplace or to use on the job, etc. |

YES! This country needs to realize if WEED is illegal then alcohol should be too. My opinion legalize it. It would destroy the illegal marijuana drug trade, bring crime down, stop the ridiculous amount of money we waste on enforcing this drug law, and I think the legalization and regulation of weed would even keep more young children from getting their hands on it, since it was always way easier for me to get weed than alcohol when I was in high school. |

this is true but it's bigger than that. It's hemp that's under prohibition. out of the 3,000+ strains of hemp only a few hundred have high THC content. the remainder are textile strains that could open new doors in textile products and energy. I would love to drive my hemp ethanol powered car to the store to buy hemp canvas sneakers, jeans & tee shirts made in the USA. |

Agreed. Weed is no more dangerous than drinking, and our country could use the extra tax revenue, AND the boost in tourism from foreign countries where it remains illegal. |

No it wouldn't. it wouldn't stimulate anything. It would just be an excuse for some potheads to get high legally. |

The country would not be making that much in profit and marijuana would never be widely legalized...if anything it would be legalized for medical purposes only.. The potheads can keep dreaming though. |
