Only if it is of the finest sinsemilla variety, with pretty red hairs coming out of her buds tender folds; with that sickly sweet smell that only "skunk" weed exudes. Then and only then should it be legal. Growing should probably be restricted to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas and the hill country formerly inhabited by the Shasta Indians in California and southern Oregon. Strict regulation must be in place and enforceable in order to prevent competitive interests such as Thai-Stick Weed producers and a heavy levy should be imposed on that Maui-Wowee stuff grown in the volcanic ash of Hawaii, not to mention the naturally developed rope standing throughout the Oaxacan region of Mexico. We want our children and grandchildren to have only the best. Of course they are a hell of a lot more worried about converting their stand of ephedra plants in the desert country to good ol' American greenbacks than they are moving that mellow gold smoke up here.

I think so. Most of the crime that we have, and most of the "criminals" that are locked up would go away with the drug war if it were to end.

If you could buy marajuana at the same place you get your cigarettes, there would be no black market run by shady people with guns.
Alcohol prohibition allowed Al Capone to become the violent kingpin that he was just as it allows drug lords their power over people.

Not to mention, if it were legal, perhaps more people would feel better about getting help for their substance abuse problems since they wouldn't run the risk of getting tossed in the slammer for coming forward about their addictions.

I don't smoke weed, nor do I want to, but I don't see what the big deal is, to be honest.
Alcohol is far worse than marijuana, and I don't think pot ever ruined someone's life.

Yes it should be. In the past politicians wouldn't touch the idea. As the older generation leaves that thinks it is evil it grows increasingly more popular. Current poles indicate a 46% support for legalization. It won't be long. It would certainly help the economy and I'm sure the tobacco farmers are already ready to start producing. I personally do not smoke it any more but let us be honest here. It isn't even listed in the top ten of dangerous drugs while cigs and booze are just about the main causes of illness later in life and are both in the top ten.

yes, marijuana doesn't hurt people. There is less deaths of marijuana then drinking and smoking. All it does is give you the munchies and you forget stuff. HARMLESS

Especially for those that need if for medical purposes. Smoking pot has a similar effect as drinking alcohol, but alcohol is legal and weed is not.

If they legalize it then the Government can tax it, regulate it, and sell it like liquor, and maybe we carve our way out of the recession...at least here in the USA. And drug dealers wouldn't be able to sell it, cause it would be available everywhere, which should stop some crime. Plus, people won't be taking up space in jail for having or smoking pot and that will make room for the murderers, rapists etc. the real criminals.

Hell yes. It is a plant that grows naturally-if I choose to cultivate it in my yard and smoke it to get high should be my natural right. If I hop in a car or endanger my kids then I have committed a crime while under the influence. The actual smoking of it or digesting of it should be my right, absolutely.
