No. You made a poor choice. You lost your chance to be a normal, functioning member of society. You have to pay for your crime like everyone else. Hopefully, you can continue your apprenticeship when you get out. Good luck. |

Why don't you ask the person you beat up if it's fair?

Don't be a wuss. You were convicted of a crime so go and do your time. Thats why its called punishment and not funishment. |

No, that would defeat the purpose. |

NO!!! they deserve 2 b there and should b punished 4 wat they did. 2 bad 4 them if they can't work its their fault 4 commiting the crime. If it was up 2 me I would make jail even worse than it is so that less people would commit crimes because they wouldn't want 2 go 2 jail |

If you commit the crime you must expect prison and you will not be let out until you have served half the sentence. |

Just because you are skilled / semi-skilled, doesn't mean you should have full rights if you have committed a crime
Maybe, with time, a low-risk prisoner could be able to utilise their skills, but I believe that should be WITHIN the Prison.
Do The Crime, Do The Time
Take Care Of yourself - you may be able to resume your studies when you get out |

What would your victim say? You do remember him/her don't you?
Already you are feeling sorry for yourself and ignoring victim issues.
You will make a good prisoner, seems its everyones fault but yours. |

if you can't do the time then don't commit the crime |

No, GBH is a serious crime and prison is your punishment |

There should be some access to these services. However, we should never forget that prison is supposed to be PUNISHMENT for crime. It should make people FEAR prison so they stop committing crimes. I don’t want to see the situation where people are committing crimes to get into prison to be able to access free housing, food, education and healthcare. I would prefer that access to these services is only for real British citizens and not the people who should be deported. |

yes you are severing the system for your GBH |

If it was up to me people who commit crimes would be locked up in a 8ft square room with a chair, bed, window and toilet and that is where they would stay until they had served your entire sentence. No chance of parole.
Nourishment would be provided through an opening in the door and persistent complaints about the conditions of the prison from convicts would result in a vocal chord operation to silence them. Prisoners guilty of more serious and violent crimes would have a television and speakers placed inside the cell with them that would play re-educational programs at them twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
There would also be a little button next to the door with a sign over it saying "Early Release", when pushed nerve gas would be pumped in to the cell causing a quick death, the body would be pulped and used as fertiliser for the fields surrounding the prison which provide food for the convicts.
Sound harsh ?
I agree, but there's no crime in my world... People are scared to go to prison. |

I have no problem with prisoners working to better themselves whilst there but being let out in order to do so is kinda like shooting the cow to get the milk. |

If you're about to complete your apprenticeship, you could ask your barrister to invite the court to consider a deferred sentence, the objectives of which would be to stay out of trouble and work hard at completing your exams. However, if you've still got a long way to go with this apprenticeship, this wouldn't work, as a deferment may only be for a few months. |

Prisons have electrical systems, and inmate work crews do your apprenticeship behind the walls. Prison is punishment, no matter what anybody thinks. If you were so much into learning a trade, then why did you take the time to commit a crime? |

It would definitely be better FOR YOU but not better for your victim. You have committed a violent act against another human being and in the interest of justice it would be better if you received a custodial sentence even though it might disrupt your life for a while or cause you inconvenience. |

I guess it depends on how your state deals with prisons.
Alot of states believe that jail is for punishment. Others believe in rehabilitation. |

Depends what kind of crime. If some one killed some one no. But if some one did a small crime they sometimes do let them out but they were an ankle monitor and have a cop in the area. |
|

i think they should but with police around because they can easily escape |

It depends on he crime they committed to get there. I mean if it was something serious like rape or murder or something like that, then no, they are too much of a danger to society. But if it's internet fraud or something, then thye should be allowe dout for work and/or training. |
