The article doesn't mention it, but the pills they were looking for were prescription-strength ibuprofen.

If there is solid evidence that the child is distributing drugs breaking the school rules, they should then punish them accordingly.
In that case, from what little the news is saying, it was purely based on the accusation of another student. Under only that, it isn't even close to a good reason to strip search. All it would then take would be to say that your enemy tried selling you some drugs, and all of a sudden, they get humiliated and invaded.
I don't think there is a good reason to strip search any student/minor unless the cause is going to be for a direct physical harm to another person.
Now if they had more evidence showing she was in possession of it, beyond that, they could simply have got her parents involved and punished her according to school policy.
My problem is with the lack of evidence to her having it, which was of course proven by them not finding any on her (or so I believe that was the case). |

in my opinion yes as long as those doing the search are the same gender as the child and if the child is being belligerent as in refusing to empty pockets
this case is messed up the child was not disruptive and never in trouble
and was in the honors society
this seemed extreme in this case specially when they found nothing on her
this case is 6 years old as well
the girl is now 19 |
