Most smokers couldn't care less about polluting other people's air - that is the problem. It comes down to just plain common courtesy.
The next time someone lights up right in front of you, back up to them and rip a flappy, stinky fart right in their face. Then politely tell them that if they want to pollute your air, you can pollute theirs.
Should the government be in charge of this issue? Probably not. But if smokers cared at all about non-smokers, it wouldn't be an issue to begin with. |

Yes! Because if you smoke or even smell smoke, your chances of not dying early is reduced alot. |

good question, i think it wud be better for everyone if it was banned in all public places, it wud be better for the environment, non-smokers, and it might help smokers quit smoking |

I don't think it should be banned in public places, but seggregated. |

Yes.
I had an English teacher in high school, that never smoked a day in her life. She got lung cancer, entirely from second-hand smoke.
If a parent smokes in their home, I'd warrent that as child abuse. You might not see the effects immediately, but sure enough it is hurting, and killing your child.
If one's going to smoke - hey, that is their right. Just do it in your own home, and with you and only you around, so other's don't have to partake in being vulnerable to unwanted illness. |

yes because some people don't want to breath smoke in and turn their lungs brownish black and shrivily |

No, I don't.
Indoors, I understand but not outdoors. Designated places for smokers is a better idea.
The Disney World parks have designated areas for smokers and that works weel. |

No the Government should not ban it
it should be the marketplace that takes away smoking not the government.....
As in this scenario:
If there are two restaurants on Main St..
They both had Smoking and Non-Smoking sections and they both did the same amount of business..
Then restaurant A says you know what I am going to go to an entire non-smoking restaurant....
So now the people of the town can choose which one they want to eat at.....If the majority of people don't like the smoke.. then they will go to Restaurant A...
So now Restaurant gets more business and the better employees. ( they can pay higher wages and the waiters get more in tips because its a busier restaurant)
What happens to Restaurant B.. well they can keep themselves open with a smoking section and just get that business,, , or they can turn their restaurant into a smoke free place.,.. and go back to the old days of splitting the business,,,,, |

no! I live in America I have the right to! Oh wait no i dont since politicians keep taking are rights away form us. And for the local state and federal goverment to tell me i cant smoke in (X place) they can all go to hell.. considering i was given that right at birth. who pays there salaries me you and and all citizens who pay taxes.. oh wait they keep raising taxes on cigs and beer so we should be able to have more say since they keep screwing us everyday with there political BS.. and for the people saying that smoking is addicitve how many times a day do you drink caffaine thats way more addicitive and worse for your health in the long run. obesity to me seems to be more of a problem then smoking. |

as soon as we get a fair definition of "public places" I'll get on board - 300 yards away from you on a golf course won't bother you - smoking in my car is not in your face - my back yard is not a public place - if you are there with me and you don't smoke I am courteous enough to abstain - started to light up on a golf course last summer and a woman that the starter paired us with ( a stranger to me) started to cough and choke and glare at me in a hostile fashion when I got out the pack and before I lit up. I abstained and was still treated badly from that point on. Smokers are not pedophiles or crack addicts you all still need to deal with us in a courteous manner or the validity of your objection will cease to be my concern. |

Yes, I mostly agree. I'm a smoker, and I know I'm damaging other people with my smoke. |

Yes! Smoking should be handled like alcohol. Use in a specially designated place or in your own home. Not in public places. |

Yes, they can smoke in the privacy of their own homes or the homes of smoking friends. Perhaps they could open up smoking clubs or have smoking parties. |

Yes--I think the right for everyone to breath clean air trumps the right of smokers to smoke anywhere they like. Your right to smoke ends where your neighbor's air supply begins. |

Smoking should be made illegal. What other addictive substance is legal to sell? And yes I was a smoker for about 30 yrs. Put the damn tobacco company out of business! |
|

Sandra

It'll be there soon |

That would depend on how you define "public".
If your definition is:
inside governmental owned buildings ... YES
out doors on public property ... NO
inside a privately own business that is open to the public ... NO
If you are a non-smoker and you don't want to breath smoke in a bar or restaurant, go to a bar or restaurant that has owners that choose to have it as a non-smoking establishment.
NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO PATRONIZE PRIVATE BUSINESSES THAT ALLOW SMOKING IN THEM, SO SHUT UP ALREADY. |

If you ban drugs then ban smoking (the most addictive drug), Plus who wants to be around them |

YES......GIVING CANCER TO OTHERS IS MURDER years ago people werent exposed to the truth of tobacco now they are...they now it kills and hurts other people....there for they know they are hurting others and it should be a crime......the same as premedatated crimes....going into a place of buisness etc.and firing up should be ilegal and should be made a crime. |

for everyone who says that you need to smoke inside you are crazy if you don't want someone smoking by you move your *** over and get on with your life. smokers if you want to smoke inside fine but in your own home, if you have a child of children i would suggest smoking outside. you have rights just like everyone else does. |
