well accourse with proper training not only how to use it but also mental and physical and the safety of one being at the reach of "not so well mental" kids that are in school and i am not talking about mentally chalenged i am but the other groups of idiots the violent ones
plus how would they be kept where in the school would it be better if it was a taser or something like so
the entire thing of why our schools are not given any sort of protection is beyond my understanding and that goes into why is it more inportant to spend money to protect some other group of ppl that hate our guts instead of our children and so forth
but i could be wrong |

You got an F Johnny, and you've been getting on my nerves lately. I'm gonna send you to permanet detention. BAM! What next? Are the people who bag groceries gonna carry a gun too? |

Any teacher (and even more so for professors) who has a concealed carry permit should be allowed to do so on campus. Perhaps Liviu Librescu would have been able to save more lives (including his own) if he were able to do something more than block the door with his body.
As for problems that might arise, if those would be less than 31 dead people, you're looking at a net gain. |

No, there are many more ways to prevent school shootings and I doubt having more guns will help. (in the hands of teachers even- remember they have unions, so there are some 'bad' teachers around) |

No, because they will get used for the wrong reason. |

I'm going with alwaysmoose...I know a lot of teachers that would scare me if they had access to a gun...in fact my assistant principal from high school brought a gun to school...very scary! |

definitely not. |

Everyone should be allowed to carry. That's what the Second Amendment says. Imagine if just one student or teacher had been armed. The shooter probably would have killed two or three, then we could try the hero for illegal possession of a handgun. Win-win. Shooter dies, more students survive, somebody goes to jail. Happy ending for everyone. |

Yes. I believe strongly that it would save lives. In fact a teacher with a gun at school (not CCW it was in his truck) stopped a shooting rampage at the school in 1997.
For all those saying "no" here I would invite you to read the article for the other side of the coin. |

There is some logic in teachers being armed. It's much different today then when I went to school, no one in my day would've ever brought a weapon into a school. |

what!I disagree. teachers are not policemen. If you armed them let them also wear military uniforms. The classroom is not a battlefield. The VT event was the fault of those who maintain peace and order. |

Maybe not a gun. But I say at least a stung gun, billy club or a can of Mace.
Or a bean bag gun. |

School's in big metropolis areas such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago often have security. Some that work are off duty police officiers and often carry guns.
If their is growing concerns more districts should look into this and practicing more security one entrance only etc.
As other have said some teachers are bad (as in any profession) and have many other aspects of their jobs to worry about. Students can lift tests answers $ you name it , I can only imagine the problems should a teachers gun be stolen in a school...... |

No but I would support a good old fashioned paddle and tasers wouldn't be such a bad idea. |

Not a public school... private schools can try it out.
But I would refuse to go to a school with guns in it.
I have lost too many friends to gun violence (3 friends) and I REFUSE to be around people with guns anymore.
I no longer have friends and family who own guns (mainly because the ones that did killed themselves) and I will not EVER again...
Do you think that students would not easily obtain the gun if they wanted it?
Teachers have been punched in the face before... could you rely on yourself to take a punch in the face from a bad student and not reach for a gun and commit murder?
Too many variables ... NO GUNS IN SCHOOLS. |

No. They're too stupid to shoot a gun. |

What's important is to make sure that nobody is able to defend the children and then stupidly and loudly announce it to the world.
That way, every preeeevert in the world knows that he can go to school and have the only gun there.
Anti-gun pukes are soooo Briilliant! |
