Yes especially when the government is taking a 700 billion dollar out and using it to help newspapers , car dealerships, banks and mortgsage companies and then 1-2 billkion of each of those go to give their senior officers raises while the ask the workers to take a cut so everyone can catch up . Teachers are the lowest paid people across the country for what they do and the time they spend . We are educationally behind almost every foreign country in the world and we do not have much time before we have no more teachers , because they can not afford to live on their salaries . It is pitiful and disgraceful

Most doctors, lawyers, and business owners operate their own businesses, and their income depends on their success. I can assure you that there are many lawyers who do not make what a beginning teacher makes. There are herds of them just getting by. Most doctors will make much more, of course, but they will be in school and training for many years. Teaching is a job working for others, and it's usually a government job, so a reasonable wage is expected, and money doesn't make a good teacher. |

should teachers make more money than they currently do?
yes.
should they make the same amount of money as a laywer, or doctor?
NO. |
|

kara

No. Lawyers and doctors have to put a lot more time and money into their education. Business leaders...vague. |

They should be paid based on performance, just like everyone else. |

If they make 40,000 a year that is technnically 60,000 with all those breaks and stuff. Teachers are good.... |

No.
The college isn't as expensive and long.
And it doesn't take as much talent. |

yes if they actualyl cared about the kids
lots of times teachers are teachers because they failed at being a lawyer or doctor. sorry. just saying. |

|
definitely NOT
it is not difficult to become a teacher, so why should they be paid so much?
teaching is such a cake job.... it may be stressful but simply look at their hours and their education background |

No, because they didn't pay as much for their education. My uncle went through law school 30 years ago, and came out 120,000 dollars in debt (Lawyer). My aunt went to college 30 years ago and came out 14,000 dollars in debt. I am sure the numbers have changed now. |

Pay me $60,000 a year to teach 4th graders and I will be more than happily to abandon my graduate studies. |

NO.
because most don't do anything.
it's practically the easiest job in the world once you do it for a few years |

No.
Lawyers and doctors deal with life or death, behind bars or your wellness. They obviously need intense training for this. Teachers don't need a salary raise, just more credability. |

for doing what? working half the time and not doing a good job while also being unionized. no. feck that. |
|

What Happened?
|
They should be paid DOUBLE what other professions make.
Make it competitive and the quality will go up.
And allow them to expel the troublemakers |
|

|
Absolutely not, most of the teaches that i have ever had didn't really care or try to really teach us and to the people saying yes because they have to put up with little kids that is ridiculous because that's the whole part of the job and if they don't like kids and don't like puting up with them then they choose the wrong profession and that's just their problem |
|

Ichimaru_Gin

it depends really. the harder the course, the more they should get paid. |

Let them give up tenure and agree to merit pay, then we;ll talk. |

maybe they should be paid a retainer and a bonus with each success they have, but then I think that about doctors and lawyers and business leaders to |

No Way, in fact the rest should be taking a pay cut as well.
Greed is part of how this country got into trouble in the first place. Do you actually know how many people are living at poverty level right now because of the greed in this country. Where I live the rent is so high you have to have 3 roommates to be able to pay all the bills. They say our gas prices are so high because of the transportation cost, gee even 30 miles north or south of us are an average 50 cents cheaper than our town, again greed........ |

you should get paid what the market says you should get paid. |

no way they have an easy job |

That depends. Most public teachers in America today that dont give a nut about their students should get only apples instead! |

Most Definitely! Teachers are an invaluable resource who not only deserve a good pay, commensurate with other professionals, but also the respect and cooperation of the community. If it weren't for teachers where would all the lawyers, doctors or business leaders come from?
Just like that bumper sticker says, "If you can read this...thank a teacher." |

well as a future teacher i would love if that was 2 happen... i think our job is the most important of all because we r the ones who prepare the future lawyers doctors etc to be who they are and we r the ones who get them to that level. without teachers this world may just have a literacy rate of 10%.... teachers should be atleast as much if not more! |
