No if you kill them it's over quick and they don't have to suffer, unlike the families of their victims.
They should be locked up in a small room with no windows, a small uncomfortable bed and bread and water to live on. Maybe let them out of their cages for 10 minutes a day like the animals they are. |

If you mean in the UK, it can't be re-introduced while we are part of the EU. One of the many conditions of EU membership is the removal of Capital Punishment from the statute book. |

I think the majority of the people are for capital punishment.
But our feeble governments wouldn't have a referendum on it. |

I live in the Texas/Oklahoma region of the USA. We are notorious for our use of the death penalty against criminals.
I can guaranty you that Tim McVeigh will never bomb another Federal Building, I bet Tookie Williams has a lot harder time murdering hotel clerks now that he is dead.
These people and those like them deserve to go.
Why you would let someone who killed 168 people get off and call it compassion is beyond me. |

It should absolutely be re-introduced. |

Definitely, as long as there is conclusive evidence. |

No. It is wrong for the state to take a life in an effort to deter killing an d other heinous crimes. |

Personally I think a lot of people would like the death penalty brought back - I don't have a problem with it at all. However, I saw Michael Portillo on Alan Titchmarsh's programme and he said the Government would never do this. Why this should be when people would like a referendum on this is beyond me. |

I believe firmly in the death penalty. |

only if we could execute the death sentence within 48 hours of the sentence. Because thousands of people are on death row and it takes on the average 15 years to execute them. In reality, the death sentence is a joke in america. it is cheaper to sentence them to jail for the rest of their life because it would save us millions of dollars in legal costs (which is like 50 times more expensive than jail for life). |

i think the death penalty should be brought back the victims and their families of these crimes have to live with it 4 the rest of their lives, a live sentence is what about 12 yrs which the offenders only serve half a that sentence and are then allowed to get on with their lives |

some regimes are more humane. we don't perpetually eccentuate bad learn-ed behaviour in the modern world we either incarcerate for life or rehabilitate. |

I believe you can still get hanged in the UK for Treason (though that law hasn't been used since the 20th century). As for the death penalty for serious offenders? It would be the easy way out for them. The rest of their miserable lives should be spent in solitary confinement, in the worst conditions that we can have in prison, with no hope of ever getting out. Life in prison should mean life. |

I think in many situations the death penalty is a good thing. |

No. Once you make someone take another life you take away the chance for true repentance. |

No I don't believe it should br re-introduced.
There is alwways that possibility that they could get it wrong and out an innocent person to death.
It has happened in the past and it could happen again. |

mps are duty bound to carry out the wishes of the people who voted them into their over paid , overpensioned cushy jobs , they must be made aware that it is the wishes of the people that they have to carry out not their own self interests or ideas , WE DEMAND A REFERENDUM NOW , oh by the way i am in favour of the death penalty and corporal punishment, the do gooding fraternity have had their own way for the last 40 years and it has NOT worked as the current trend shown more murders and muggings than ever |

I answered a question earlier relating to the possibility of pacifism in our day & age.
On this note, I believe if we bring back the death sentence, we are only condoning the act of man slaughter.
Where do we stop, why do conditions apply where violence is concerned?
Let's make war and kill thousands (acceptable in the line of duty)
Kill a stranger and queue on deathrow. (maximum penalty)
I'm confused, there should be one rule, "no killing".
What about in self defence? If there was no other alternative!
If it was an accident? Proove it!
Answering the question straight up-
Life imprisonment should do it anyway, why end their missery sooner? |

What is your opinion? Should the state start with all those advocating it as an example of fairness .... given that they think it would be a befitting state of affairs? |
|

Yes it should but only for the most serious of crimes ie serial murder. Paedophillia is a difficult area because it scars people for life but the paedophile is still only a small risk to society if precautions are taken. |
