i don't think so if the amount of force is equal to the risk...Now here in Texas you can use deadly force to protect your home and property from invaders...but i think shooting a guy 12 times for slapping you might be a little harsh.. |

In a word: NO!
Self-defense is a human right and prerogative. The only nation that I am aware of that eschews using force for self-defense is England where if you shoot a robber, even as he's shooting you, YOU go to jail and the robber can sue you.
But then again ... that's England for you.
Just remember, you can use deadly force ONLY if you are faced with deadly force, however. In other words, there's nothing that prevents you from kicking the crap out of a guy if he tries to stab you, provided you stop once he's disarmed or down or both. |

No, everyone has the right to defend themselves. It's called the "Castle' laws. You need not retreat, run or otherwise give in. You have the absolute right to stand your ground.
Do a web search for the Castle laws, each state has thier own. |

no they shouldn't but if the intruder comes in with a gun then he had better be prepared to use it because i would use mine to protect my family, life and property! and this a reflection of the namby pamby wishy washy governments that we elect! if you don't want the above....do not vote for them then! and in america i find that the only under-arm protection one needs there is a 38 in a shoulder holster! |

^ ^^^ ^^ i like that answer , i do agree though that it shouldnt punish to a point like if you must defend yourself against a person with a weapon than you you should be allowed to use deadly force, if you get into a fist fight, i think you should be able to beat the other guy into a bloody pulp if it was you defending yourself, not killing him/her |

Only if it's proportionate to the threat/force used...which I believe is the current self-defence laws.
So if you're getting punched and punch back to stop it, that should be self-defence. If you're getting punched and so you take a flamethrower and burn them to a crisp, that shouldn't be.
