I think they should ban everything that isn't good for you. No smoking, no alcohol, no skydiving, no rock climbing, no crossing the street, no driving.

Should breast implants be illegal? Studies have shown that they can be harmful.
Should alcohol be illegal? It causes more deaths per capita in the United States then guns.
Should laundry detergent be illegal? It can reek havoc on aquatic streams even after wastewater treatment.
The whole point to this is is that we all know it is harmful for you. However if you want to do it, the go ahead. Its your body. Do what you want. |

No way this is a FREE country. We are loosing our sight of this and the citizens are allowing their freedoms to be taken one by one. Just because people don't like it does not mean it should be banned it just gives the government more power to take away other things. If we ban tobacco where does it stop? People should be able to do what they want. |

No they shouldnt be banned... At least not yet. that would cause worldwide stocks to crash even further than what they already are.
Sadly tobacco companys keep a good portion of our economy stable. In hard times, people turn to habits for relief of their problems such as smoking, drugs, and alcohol. Even when they know the product may be harmful, they feel that the temporary relief is better than the long term effects.
Ever heard of a liquor store, tobacco store, or any of the like going bank-rupt???
Didnt think so... People will ALWAYS have problems no matter what and sadly, as long as there are problems, there will always legal tobacco, drug, and alcohol products. |

No, there are too many people addicted to tobacco at this point and if tobacco were banned, people would just go to the black market and overpay for the same thing. The best solution is to teach the harms of tobacco in schools (health classes). Studies have found that once educated, people are much less likely to smoke. |

I don't think so because they aren't the main cause of people dieing of cancer from smoking. It's because cigarrete companys put so much ****(pardon my french) in the cigarettes its unhealthy but then again the human lungs aren't ment to inhale smoke. |

"Prohibition" in the 1920s was a great success and really rid our society of alcohol to this day...And Ronny Regan's war on drugs has really worked too, no one does illegal drugs anymore.... great idea to ban tobacco as well... will end all our problems... |

No. It is a right to kill yourself slowly if you want. Although even as a smoker I do believe people should not be allowed to smoke in public places. If you want to be healthy you should be allowed to without someone blowing cancer in your face. |

Nice wish, but even my loathing for smoke and its ill effects on smokers and everything around them can't get me to say yes.
Keep it around, keep taxing the heck out of it. Double the taxes on it!! Non-smokers don't have to pay them.
On the other hand, ban smoke breaks or give equal break opportunity to all employees. |

yes. millions of people have died using tobacco pruducts. 2nd hand smoke has cause countless numbers of cancer. I hate when people smoke. Im an EMT and yes it gives mework, but its hard to pick people up that have throat cancer or lung cancer. |
