If waterboarding isn't torture then you are absolutely right. We could use this enhanced technique in lot's of situations. On kids in school who won't "tattle" on bullies/cheaters etc. On employees to find out if they are stealing or just being lazy. We could even use it on people who get traffic tickets in traffic court....you know, find out if they really DID have an emergency or were they just speeding cause they like to go fast.
Oh...and use it on the cops too. Sometimes cops aren't 100% truthful I bet and we could waterboard them and find out if they really crashed their car cause they were pursuing a call....or was it really because they didn't want to wait for the light!
If it's just akin to a "college prank" then I don't see why we can't make it as useful as possible. It makes me laugh as well at the sissy terrorists who give up information just cause someone is playing a prank on them!
Good question! I probably wouldn't have considered all these possibilities if I hadn't seen it. I may waterboard my wife tonight....you know, "Was that rug REALLY on sale????" |

Water torture is torture.
Torture is illegal, and cannot be used on anyone.
Torturing people doesn't keep us safe, and even if it did it's barbaric. We don't resort to barbarism out of fear. |

Whether or not it is torture will be debated between people for some time. But, no matter if it is or not torture, it would still be considered "cruel and unusual punishment". In the U.S., we have a little thing called the Bill of Rights that this would violate. Get the 8th Amendment repealed, and you may stand of chance of having more support for this. |

If you can find a situation where a criminal can provide information that will keep us safe, feel free. |

No
Cause it is torture.
Torture is an ineffective means of gathering information
And it's barbaric and evil.
That about covers it. |

Let's restrict it to illegal combatants who are highly likely to have information about plans for future attacks. |

Good question! Lets water board child abusers and rapists and murderers. After all this "brings results" and we Americans take our queues from tv series like 24 , as oppose to laws and moral standards! Results justify the means. Lets think in terms of "Criminal intent" now! |

Absolutely! Waterboarding is actually quite harmless. It's just another form of propaganda to diminish the reputation of the Bush administration. Dunking someone's head in the water causes almost no physical harm and if you can perform this and get information to save millions of American lives it's worth it. Unfortunately, we have liberals to deal with in this country. If given the choice between saving a million innocent citizen lives and going against their code of strict morals to waterboard a terrorist they would choose killing the citizens everytime. It's a screwed up view on life that they have. Maybe we'll survive with them in power but I imagine the next attack isn't far away. |
