It is our Constitutional right to own guns! Banning guns would only keep the law abiding citizens from owning one. It would not stop the criminals from obtaining them on the black market. We have the right to protect our family and home! |

Banning privately owned guns or any other regulations would do absolutely nothing. Think about it: criminals find ways to get guns, and most of them own guns that aren't registered in their name. There is literally nothing we can do that will keep criminals from getting their hands on a gun, or any other weapon for that matter. |

Then only criminals will own guns. The bad thing is the criminals that were law abiding citizens will be arrested for owning one and the thugs will be outgunning and murdering or robbing anyone, because they will know you dont have one. |

I don't care for you much

No, guns are ok....if we ban guns for everyone, then the ones who do illegal things, would not care to get an illegal gun, How do we defend ourselves?? Its the idiot behind the gun...not the gun!! The big assault rifles that are used in alot of mass killings are banned to private citizens!! How do they get them...illegally. Guns are banned to felons...how do they get them?? Ilegally. Drugs are banned...does it stop drug dealing or drug users...nope. So.........ban guns....nah!! |

No.
Then the Military and Government would have to much power.
Guns and arms are a means to defend against corrupt governments. |

No, than only the criminals have guns. example, in great britian and austrailia they outlawed firearms. the crime rate went up! also, the constitution guarantees our right to own and bear arns. if you start just changing any of our rights because you personally don't understand or are afraid of something than we won't have any rights left |

The U.S. Constitution gives us a right to bear arms. The people who have a problem with that should find another country to live in. |
|

No. The founding fathers gave us the right to bear arms not just for hunting, as some would have you believe, but because they knew that there will always be the risks of tyrrany and oppression. When that happens, be it next year or in 500, the people will only have a chance to fight for their rights agaist this oppression if they are armed. |

No. Because The Second Amendment says so. A gun is an inanimate object. People are the problem, not guns. What will you do next, "ban" people in the U.S.? |

NO! We should keep criminals from getting them so easily, though. |

Absolutely not.
The second amendment is about maintaining the balance of power between the government and the citizens.
The argument that it would be impossible for a citizen army to stand against the military is highly flawed. If anyone doubts the ability of marginally armed civilians fighting off a large army can't happen should look at Iraq today and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the 80's.
To obfuscate the issue the Anti-gun lobby tries to say that because we are a nation of laws that solves the problem. Not just untrue, it's a dangerous fallacy because those in power make the laws, and without the balance of power being in the citizens hands, the power mongers would subjugate the population without fear of reprisal.
The lesson learned in Waco and Ruby Ridge was that armed incursions by the federal government against any citizen is not acceptable, no matter how outside the norm the citizens are.
It is our responsibility to maintain our safety and security as citizens. |

No! If you take away guns from the citizens, only the criminals will have them. Our right bare arms is protected by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. |

This is a stupid question. Did banning booze stop people from drinking during prohibition? Banning guns will not stop people from having, and using, guns. All it will do is to increase the number of people who burgle police, and military, armorys. |

It is the people who privately own guns that are the ones to be afraid of because they are criminals. Citizens who own guns that are registered with the state have to provide ID to own it and law enforcement officials know your identity. I do not want to not be able to not own a gun. I have the right, am a law abiding citizen and according the 2nd amendment I am allowed to own one. |

I don't think we need to ban them outright, but there need to be more strict regulations on who can and cannot get one. If everyone and their moms can just walk into a Wal-Mart and buy a gun, we have a problem. Those that need one for a legitimate purpose, pass a background check, and give their ID and information to the police should be able to get one. |

absolutly not guns r not the problem in america its the ppl using them r. we dont need gun controll we need more crime controll. what we need to do is make ppl who r buying guns in america go through a safety course to learn how use a gun right so u dont have "accidents". as for crimes on the street i think we need to have more police officers to protect the streets. if we ban guns its not going to stop crime because criminals r still goin to get the guns illeagly and crimes r still goin to happen. |

Banning guns from law abiding citizens will not help. It seems quite obvious if you google Gun ban crime rates, everywhere that has banned guns, the rate of gun crime increases!
I live in an avid hunting state. Our gun crime rates are very low. 7% of my state population have a concealed weapons permit. Those that don't have that still have hunting weapons. In my home alone we have 7 guns. It's not the guns that kill people-its people.
3 years ago 3 men attempted to break into our home in broad daylight with a knife, needless to say, after calling 911-the intruders were warned we had a gun, then shown the gun thru the window, (we meant business)...they took off running and were apprehended.(FYI- they were all illegal immigrants)
Commiting a crime against a person who might be armed isn't a choice many want to make.
Of our gun crimes this year, most were in domestic violence situations, not against strangers.
Just something to think about |

You can't ban privately owned guns. So your question is mute. My attitude, toward this subject, has changed dramatically over the years. I now believe that I would stand behind a barricade and throw bricks at Abrahms tanks before I would surrender my right to own my weapons and protect myself and my family. If you really want a civil war. Try to disarm Americans. |

I would like to see them try to get all of the Texans gun away from them. It would be World War III for sure if you don't think we are in it now. |

whats the difference between this question and, lets see:
-should we ban the free speach?
-should we ban the right to elect and be elected?
-should we ban the right to own property?
etc..... |
