Find answers to your legal question.

Should we bring back National Service for people who breach their A.S.B.Os?

Should we make it compulsory for these people to spend at least three years in the S.A.S and if they don't measure up should they be Executed I've been informed this idea has worked wonders in other countries why not give it a try here?

bugaboo

SAS training is way to good for them...lets just execute them and save money and time.

I'm not too keen on the idea of a security service full of offenders. Try a better notion.

As far as teenagers of the male sort are concerned who committ violent crime against members of the public and found guilty I am of the opinion that two years, with no excuses taken in the services from them, in the services would do them no harm. On saying that it is very doubtful if they would even make the training in the first four weeks in the army, navy or airforce and I know from a fact theyhave little ot no chance of making SAS or SBS grade because they don't have the backbone for it, the courageto take it on and the IQ. So we are left with a great number of has been's and wannabe's with little or no thought for society so that leaves service jobs that no one wants to do. I suggest 2 years in a field hospital or a body count bod so that these people can learn what it is like close up and in your face injuries.
Please don't insult the SBS or SAS by suggesting such drop outs would be a good thing.

The 'National Service' idea is a viable one, which I wholeheartedly agree with. I think the execution idea might have a hard time getting passed by Parliament. Worth trying though, eh?

I don`t see why our excellent Armed Forces should be saddled with the scum of this country.
There are some nice isolated islands off the coast of Scotland where nothing grows: Throw the buggers on there and drop water and bread every other day.

A.S.B.O.S do not deter people from commiting crimes. They are just another propaganda tool to fool the public into believing the Government is tackling crime.
What is the point of sending problematic people to join the army? Would we want them defending us? I doubt the S.A.S. would accept such undiciplined individuals either.
As for execution, well we're too civilized here to seriously consider that especially for minor crimes.
Most of the people that receive A.S.B.O.S are ill educated,or are drug or alcohol dependant. These are the issues that need to be addressed.

There should be no such thing as ASBO's. People are fully aware when they are being anti-social and should be punished accordingly. Whilst I take your point regarding the SAS thing, I think you should be aware that the SAS is not a boot camp for morons who's IQ is not numerically dissimilar to their shoe size. On the contrary, all SAS personnel are required to have a high level of intelligence as well as the physique to undertake extraordinary tasks that might be beyond the ability of personnel in other forces.

Just take my word for it!

This question was asked, by a numptee Northumberland County Councillor at an Army Presentation Night that I was recently at.

The immediate reply was NO

Why ??

The armed forces of today are highly technical and that it is difficult enough to educated and train those that enter of their own free will. It is though, in the ever changing and hihly technical weaponry, communications and tactics.

It was felt that those forced in to the Armed Forces by National Service would be difficult to discipline, unruly and under educated to make the cost and time worthwhile.

Some public service should be mandatory for everyone, using military discipline but not making all of them soldiers. Many of them would just do all those things that are too expensive to hire people to do and a lot of pick and shovel type work. The most hard core and expendable could do their service in foreign countries, putting in wells, building roads and bridges, school building, putting up medical clinics. They can be replaced as fast as the terrorists in those countries kill them off.

maybe not execution but a great idea. maybe even go one better, get them to do national service before having the chance to commit a crime. that way we would probably see fewer teenage pregnancies, fewer teens and young people abusing the benefit system, less crime equalling fewer victims equalling fewer overcrowded prisons and less unemployment hopefully resulting in more respect for society.

EDIT id like to add that army teaches discipline and respect, we wouldn't necessarily have to send these idiots to war or teach them to kill. minus the gun training, the army can offer these kids a lot.

YEA!!!.....the motto can read BRING US YOUR STUPID AND WE'LL MAKE THEM LETHAL!!! cos wouldnt that be a good idea...........mind you. on the possitive side, it would! teach them to look after their guns properly, and as their victims lay dying they'le have a nice pair of pollished boots to look at. lets just cut to the chase and talk about the execution. ( i got no problem with that.)

I think national service for 18 year olds should be brought back-1st they would have a wage, then discipline and learn a trade too.there are`nt many jobs for kids as much as when I was 18 so I think it would give them a start in life.

Lets consider this for a minute.

Disregarding your call to bring back capital punishment (as it's rather unlikely to be acceptable to the UK population), then we'd be turning ASBO holding annoying little idiots (if they were a real menace they'd have been locked up) into annoying little idiots who are trained to kill.

Do you see a flaw in your plan yet?

Better to get them picking up litter, cleaning off graffitti, repairing fences and decorating community centres IMO.

Spot
you are spot on.
