Find answers to your legal question.

Should we hold Bush accountable for this statement, and prohibit, investigate and prosecute?

In a June 26, 2003 statement in support of the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, President Bush called "on all governments to join with the United States and the community of law-abiding nations in prohibiting, investigating, and prosecuting all acts of torture."

Definitely. He said it himself. Even if he keeps on saying that waterboarding is not torture, it still is.

LOL yeah sure, how about we hand over Bush in an orange jumpsuit and make FOX close down operations......then can Dems finally get to work and accomplish something and finally have Uhhbama give a speech about results instead of his BS intentions?

What torture?
Did the US commit torture? That's terrible. When was this?

All I've heard about is waterboarding. . . . which isn't really that bad. Also standing up for a long time. Is that torture? I had no idea!

Jerry
I agree with you 100%. We need you to take charge of this and file the necessary paperwork to prosecute Ex-President Bush. Go ahead, we're all counting on you for this.

I think that, like the Spartans, at he end of their time in office a public official above a certain level should be investigated by the government to ensure everything was above board

Samm
Only after we arrest Pelosi and those Democrats who knew the "waterboarding" method first.

Should we hold Clinton accountable for the deaths of 3000 Americans on 9/11? He had a well documented opportunity to arrest Bin Laden prior to 9/11, but didn't. So should he be held accountable for aiding mass murder? In fact couldn't that be grounds for treason?

Well, at the time, certain members of congress from both sides, inluding lawyers deemed those interrogation methods as not being torture. Look it up. It kills me how blinded people are because they are so caught up in their hatred of Bush, that they lack any common sense to search out the facts.

Kevin
No, we should not. The so-called "torture" that the Bush administration pushed is not really torture. The terrorists underwent psychological torture, not even waterboarding classifies as physical because it is only a simulated exercise. Plus, so many worse crimes of "torture" are propagated by numerous tyrannical regimes around the world in Africa and Asia.

We have never actually prosecuted any president for past actions, whether criminal or not. Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton, of which two of them were impeached but not prosecuted, and Nixon was given a pardon by President Ford because he knew that there would be terrible repercussions if we were to actually prosecute a former President.

If we were to punish a past president for his actions, whose going to stop at Bush, eventually any president could be prosecuted for even a simple trivial action. To prosecute Bush or anyone in his administration would be setting a very very dangerous precedent and would be a huge liability that every president from then on would have to take on.

But GOP semantics dictates that, at the time, waterboarding was not considered "torture" according to the Bush Admininstration (by conveniently redefining what torture was...they are delusionally guiltless).
