Should we start executing prisoners on death row?`?

YES!!! It costs millions to keep scumbag prisoners alive, we could use that money towards our schools and much more important things. They're set to die, so kill them already! I believe in the "eye for an eye." Also, what is the point in life sentences? If they're somewhat mentally stable, send them to the army! Rather than having to send good Americans that are needed by their families.

In the State of California it takes an average of 20 years for a convicted person to recieve the death penalty. In Texas I think it is more like 2 weeks. Just kidding. It is quick though.

I saw an interesting special on capital punishment where the guilty receive a butt lashing instead of prison time. An American student was convicted of spray painting cars. The US interviened and his sentence was reduced from 6 to 4 hits with a cane that cuts through the flesh on the buttocks and leaves lifelong scarring. That country spent money we would have spent on prisons on schools and other programs. What do you think of that?

This is a question of law and ethics, as you have yourself classified it, and is better left to the keepers of law and ethics, themselves, who are adequately learned to understand more than any of us individuals' points of view. Then, there are individual governments with different rules in different countries. Will it not be wise to leave these matters to those competent authorities and their concerned societies?

No, you can't be 100% sure they are all innocent so they deserve every chance the get to appeal their sentences.

How many prisoners have been freed because DNA evidence today showed they did not commit the crime? I'm sure there are some still on death row that are innocent. I would rather keep them on death row than kill an innocent prisoner.

It's Business their running a money scam. If you had a dollar in a piggy bank and some one came by and offered you 5 dollars to take care of that dollar you give that dollar a $1 and keep the 4 for your self that's why it makes no sense to kill these people on Row!

don't kill them but organize a community service for petty criminals such as theft(no weapon) and drug use also organize a rehab center because maybe the criminals are kleptomaniacs or the druggies want to come off drugs..

Yes, they should be killed a lot faster. There needs to be some sort of time limit in the appeals process.

This what's going on in Texas. We execute more than any other state. This web page links to all the stats regarding death row inmates in Texas. Your state should have something similar.

It shouldn't be about the money. It should be about the sentence. If they're convicted and sentenced to die, why wait 8, 12, 20 years for appeal after appeal after appeal. No one wants to execute an innocent, but if a jury finds someone guilty, the sentence should be carried out immediately.

I am personaly tired of supporting them! If they get the death penalty then I say..put them to death already.

For the cry babies who don't believe in the death penalty...well....you would change your tune if someone you loved had been raped and murdered or tortured to death.

Although its compassionate to forgive, if they are on death row, I am sorry to say I dont feel compassionate anymore for them. Its not like they stole $5. A man and a woman killed that 7 year old child in new york, and guess what, they will live forever in prison and we pay for it. And ironically, they are having a better life than the poor kid who was tied, molested, beaten-up, unfed and killed! And how is that fair?

Well our California Goverment did it again by canceling the execution again for 2011, What a joke. Thank our extra face (BALD) Governor Jerry Ass Brown, I thought we learned the last time he was in office. We executed 709 prisnors before 1976 and 13 since 1976 another big joke. Why can't we be like Texas where they take care of business,they don't mess around & Calif. goverment people in charge of executions is pussy's that should be replaced if it bothers them to do it. We have 706 inmates on death row costing us millions of dollars, get rid of them ASAP then we can spend wasted money on other productive things that need to be done.

You know that our state (California) is in bad shape money wise & they are cutting police,teachers & many other jobs and the state keeps on paying millions of tax dollars a year to keep prisoners with 3 hots and a cot. I would say get rid of them that murders people they don't need to be on earth anymore. Also stop listening to the ACLU because the have thier head isn't screw on right & I'm sure if one that was real close to them was murdered they would a 360 degree turn. Put the money back into productive things instead of the low-life on death row.
