Should weed be legalized? Why or why not?

No it will cause more problems than most people realize.
-Weed is safer than beer. Okay if you believe this you have smoked too much. It leads to lung cancer and mental diseases, which will only go to increase medical insurance rates. In addition regardless of what you believe mary jane is a gateway drug. It can and does lead to harder drugs. I haven't seen many people that started out drinking beer and moved on to coke or crack.
- Legalizing will decrease crime. Do you think all of those drug smugglers and growers are going to just give up and quit. No they are going to smuggle harder drugs into the country which will in turn start turf wars
- Drivers under the influence of weed and safer than drunks. I guess you haven't been on the scene of an accident where the driver was high because I have been on 3.

Yes, the only reason it was made illegal was William Randolph Hearst didn't want to lose business for his paper mills by allowing hemp to be grown and for racial reasons also.

yes.. the only reason the government doesnt leagalize it is because they dont know how to tax it. It would be an awesome drug for cancer paitents bc they are always in pain.

I know it should be. Lets get the drugs that getting into our kids hands off the streets, OFF the streets. We need to "controll" and create dispensaries where weed can be sold LEGALLY. We buy beer and cigs with an ID. Why cant we do that with weed. Making things illegal are just going to get people to do it more. Amsterdam says "We've successfully made weed, Boring". This isnt a political race to become the next super power by regulating weed but i believe its our god givin right to be free and smoke whatever we want to. Who should tell us what we should do. Sane and Competent people work everyday, take care of their familes, who happen to smoke weed sometimes which hurts no one, but these are the same people that get busted and their LIVES ripped from them because of it. This is stupid america. Legalize now and lets all be happy.

Prohibition didn't work. Period. Alcohol and marijuana are personal choices not in the domain of the political arena. Preventing freedom of choice is the problem. I've never been beaten by a man drunk on pot. I've never heard of a family being killed by a pot smoking driver. I've never heard of a pot plant blowing up and killing anyone. I've never heard of anyone jumping out of a window when smoking pot.

As a matter of fact, marijuana is a natural weed like dandelions. You can make wine, tea and salad out of dandelions, but who does that? You can make fiber, clothing, tea, and salad out of hemp, but who does that. Tobacco is less pure and natural than hemp, yet the tobacco industry is doing just fine.

Hypocrisy in politics...amen.

I don't know, here in California is legal(in some parts) for medicinal purposes, but the "federals" say that the same(legalizing mariguana) is not legal under federal law.
