Wrong...heart attacks is numero uno. Men have more HA than women. Pregnancy is a result of both a man & a woman. You didn't know that? |

And all pregnancys are in due, partly, to men. Hmmm.... that hadn't occured to you? Then think next time. |

Men have more heart attacks and often more medical problems than women. Many women are never pregnant. Having a baby costs less than having a triple by-pass. I don't think anyone will save anything having men paying lower medical insurance premiums except the men. |

Baby Nolan arrived Apr 18, 2009!

Women get pregnant BECAUSE of men--maybe men should pay more for medical care because of that. |

men get sick to, so no they should pay less. only a man would come up with that. |
|

no. pregnancy is relatively cheap compared to heart disease. And women are more likely to have preventative care, so they're less expensive in the long run.
And women taking time off work isn't a health insurance issue. At all. |

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard of. Try showing a stat to support it. |

No. Men pay for the deadbearts, bums, illegal immigrants and welfare recipiants. I personally would much rather give my money to women ( ask my wife ). |

EVERYBODY in America should pay less for medical insurance... |

You sure asked for a bunch of grief with that question. |

Most women take off time AFTER pregnancy, to raise the baby and in a lot of places guys can take that time off too to help. |

paganmom

Not all women get pregnant and men have more major health problems then females.
What does women taking off after pregnancy have to do with insurance rates? If they want to continue their insurance they still have to pay while they are taking off...and men have the option to take of on paternity leave after the birth of a child, they just choose not to most of the time. |

Most of the fees you pay in insurance is due to escalation medical costs that is caused by increasing number of people who can't afford to pay their bills. |

Why bother specifying America?
Last I heard women get pregnant in lots of other countries too! |

On an individual basis, women as a whole have more medical concerns and problems than men and therefore pay more for health insurance. On a group health insurance plan, the cost difference may be different. |

If you want to pay less for insurance, find a carrier who lets you decide what coverage you want to carry. If you don't want maternity, then, don't take it. If you have group coverage, then you're stuck with group rates. Everyone gets the same rate, that's how it works. |

No they shouldn't pay any less. And where does it say that women cost more due to pregnancy? I think that is inaccurate. Typical. |

yes--hmmm--maybe not--pregnancy--is the only true future of the human race |

Insurance premiums are based on the risks and costs of providing medical care. I'm sure the thousands of actuarials and other analysts working in the insurance industry have already considered this one factor, as well as many others. |
|

to imply that women use medical insurance more therefore they should pay more is ludicrous.
If you want to drop the cost of medical care start by getting everyone you know to stop going to the doctor for every little thing, make it so that people have to pay a larger share of the burden for using insurance for "elective" or Personal Choice procedures, take birth control and contraception off the list and make people pay for it, and all things like this. When people stop using the system insurance rates will drop and people will start taking care of themselves. |

I understand what you are saying but I would not touch this with a 10 foot pole. You had to know that you were opening up a can of worms with this one. (Grin) You should have tons of hate mail in your box in the morning <laughing>

Pregancy should not be included, because it's an expected occurrence.
It would be like expecting auto insurance to pay for service bills, oil changes, ect. |

i think this question is kind of pointless, but what bella said is so much worse. i dont think men should pay less, but come one ladies try taking responsibility for your own actions as well. women get pregnant because of men? biologically yes. but i thought women had a right to say no? it is no one's fault but your own if you get pregnant... and yes i hold men to the same standard, any guy who complains about pregnancy will get no sympathy from me. it seems to me that the methods of avoiding pregnancy are well known by now. so no one should complain about it. either take the precautions or deal with it. |
