Even the police can't have a gun. If no one ever had access to a gun. No one would get shot... What would be so wrong with that?

I meant it could be accomplished.. No guns .. If someone is caught with a firearm after the laws and destroying the guns they should be executed...

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Believe me when I say, that the first part of this amendment does not refer strictly to threats from the outside, it partially refers to security from the government. If the people can not defend themselves from the government, then it will continue to grow and eventually become authoritarian. While your cause is filled with good intentions, the side effects in the long run would be disastrous.

A couple problems.

Prior to the spread of gunpowder driven weapons, the principle means of dealing with others was bladed weapons. Cutting people up with swords, stabbing them with spears or knives, or punching holes in them with arrows were the favorites. The only people who had any chance were large physically fit males. Everybody else did as they were told. Murder and wars were more common then.

Just suppose you do manage to round up all the weapons and destroy them and you and the other flower children are wandering around all peace and sunshine and rainbows, what will you do with us hopeless skeptics who took the trouble to cache our arms and wait for the day the rest of humanity had foolishly disarmed themselves.

The main reason that wouldn't work,,,a simple, effective firearm is incredibly easy to make and criminal types are not deterred by what's legal and what ain't.

Besides, if I really wanted to kill someone, a bow would be my weapon of choice.

People would make guns...duh. Then you have the problem with people not being able to hunt. Not to mention our second amendment rights. Also we would be attacked by other countries and have no way of defending ourselves. Leaving us all screwed. So you are saying we should be defenseless, have our rights taken away, and that leaves us for the dogs. You made a wonderful point for guns, thank you.

It astonishes me how ignorant people are.

You think this would stop the criminals/terrorists from getting armed? Do you REALLY think that? They're criminals... they don't care how they get firearms, they'll get them, whether it's legal or not. And when they know that the general public is unarmed, then that makes their life that much easier. Please think about this, and realize how obvious it is. All I ask is that you genuinely think about how ludicrous it is to disarm fellow LAW ABIDING citizens. I myself plan to get gun training over this summer, so I can DEFEND myself against crime and to protect people important to me.

You could never abolish all weapons. There are too many of them in the world. Every gang bust the police do how many of illegal firearms are taken? Recently in two drug bust (weed) there were enough weapons seized to arm a complete military troop and they were all illegal weapons. (AK47, sawed off shotguns, auto. hand guns, etc)
And if the North American Continent abolished them the gang members would import them from where ever they get them now.

Edit: Gonna abolish kitchen knives as well?

Did you try google first?

I can't tell if this is a joke or not ("poor and stupid"), but I'll assume its not.

You can't ban guns because they are WAY to easy to make. Even if you theoretically could get rid of all, forever, then we would just use swords, rocks, knives, etc...

I don't know when exactly guns were invented, but I'm pretty sure the crusades and about a million other atrocities were committed long before then.

Attila the hun never had a gun...

Sure, if A L L "guns" in the entire universe were "destroyed" that would be kinda cool.
BUT, that cannot be brought to pass.
It will not happen.
It's IMPOSSIBLE to do.
.
Besides, if "guns" were destroyed, something else would take their place.

Listen, maybe if you in the ghetto people, would stand up and do something about your neighborhood, instead on relying others to do it, then maybe you could prevent whats going on. The police would be glad to help once they saw the people fighting back. You need to get involved and do something instead of hiding and trying to take someone elses right because your neighborhood did nothing about the problem. You allowed crime and now you have to deal with it one way or the other.

I have never heard anyone call for the abolishing of guns. Its way too late for that to be viable.
