ask her/him to politely move the car, if she doesnt and since she/he has done this repeatedly, i would have it towed..i have done that before with someone parking in my driveway(of all nerve) and let your neighbor deal with the financial consequences of getting the car out of impound/tow..be civil about it, talk to her first then call the tow truck company if she doesnt comply
good luck. |

Your terminology makes it clear that you are in the UK, so the usual American responses about "calling the cops" or "having it towed" are irrelevant.
As you say, you do need to ask a solicitor to examine your deeds to establish whether a formal right of vehicle access to your garage exists. Only when that's been established can the appropriate action be taken. Good luck. |

No one has the right to deny you access to your garage!!Try and sort it out face to face!If that fails call the police!! |

If this is a road to which the public do not have access IE they use it has a thoroughfare then it does not come under the definition of a road under road traffic laws in the UK and the offence of obstruction of the highway isn't relevant.Possible civil implications so consult a solicitor. |

Unmade roads usually belong to the residents. You each have a right of access over other people's bit of road and they have right of access over yours. They can only park on your bit with your permission.
Since your neighbour doesn't seem to want to talk about it, a solicitor's letter is the next stage. I suggest the letter points out that they are trespassing by parking in front of your garage and that you will seek damages of £500 for each day he does it. |

You need to speak to the landlord not the neighbour. they can check their deeds and you should cjeck your deeds to see what land is involved. It may be you have no legal rights to access your garage but common courtesy should allow you access.
Tell the landlord what the issues are and they can talk to the tenant and insist they move the car - although they may not be able to get them to move in straight away they could write new contract which states parking rights in it.
Good luck and i hope things work out for you - its' horrible to have issues with neighbours as your home should be your sanctuary from the world |

Unadopted road?
Ok the legal implications on access to unadopted roads is exactly the same as to reconised roads and blocking of driveways.
Blocking access, though not nice, is not illegal either (for now). Paying road tax or buying a property does not buy you the public road outside. The problem needs to be addressed directly with the neighbour, and doing so calmly should get better results than confrontation. Legal action would be unsuccessful.
In the case of an unadopted road the same situation applies, unless you could prove that the blocked road is actually within the boundaries of your property, in which case you could enclose it, but again be powerless to stop someone blocking it from the outside.
Try getting neighbours together for dinner or a drink, being nice to them may prompt them to be nice and helpful to you. |

If it is your property then you can call the cops and have them towed. What kind of neighbor would interntionally block an elderly persons garage?!?! Geese I guess good manners are gone. I would try to talk to them one more time and then call the cops |

Call the police.
Like Sunshine I had someone park in my drive while they collected their kid from school. They didnt do it again cos we parked our cars across the drive in such a way ours couldn't be pushed away and took the dog for a long walk. |

Call the police.. if it is a public road your neighbor can not block your garage or driveway... |

they cannot legally block access to your private property...regardless of whether the road is paved or not.
Call the sheriff department, and tell them your complaint...let them know you think it's a safety issue as well...... because if your house caught fire, how would the fire dept, or police department , or ambulance gain access to your property ?
you can also try having the car towed...if it is truly blocking your access to private property, they should be able to tow it without question. Whoever owns the car would be liable for the cost of the tow, as long as you post a sign that says "no parking - vehicles towed at owners' expense" |

what I would do is to get a relative to jack up his car, take off 2 of the wheels, put some bricks under the car, and leave a note on the window screen saying " You can collect the wheels from my house for a fee of 200$. That should grab his attention. |
