Someone Cut My Hair...

About 4 years ago I was at a small house party in my home town over spring break. A kid I went to high school with decided it was a good idea to cut my hair while I was sleeping later that night. Obviously I was extremely distraught when I discovered my hair had been cut the next morning (it was probably a good 8-9 inches shorter on one side, untouched on the other). My father and I went to the local police department who proceeded to tell us that there was nothing we could do outside of a civil suit because we were all only 18-19 at the time and had been drinking so unless we wanted to all get minors (myself included), they weren't going to look into it. Deciding not to hinder my clean criminal record, my dad and I both thought that it wasn't worth pursuing at the time. The kid later, sober, had a friend call me (yes, he didn't have the decency to call me himself) and told me he would pay for me to get my hair cut, again, this time by a professional, and had the friend bring me $100. Later in the day I was able to get in with the salon I normally go to get my hair fixed, which cost roughly $45. Absolutely mortified that not only this happened, but my hair was now about ear length compared to what it used to be, I was extremely self concious from here on out and decided to get glue-in extensions. I bought extensions a few times until my hair was about chin length and a little more manageable, but it was costly. Looking back now, I'm still very upset about it and feel that I do have issues with it that still bother me today. Is there anything I can do legally?? I don't think I have any of the receipts from the extensions anymore, however I do have pictures. I also realized that the police department we originally went to didn't even have jurisdiction as the place it occured is covered by the county, not the city. I'm not really sure what kind of vindication I'm looking for, but it is still just something that really bothers me that I had to deal with humiliation, self conciousness, harrassment, uneasiness, depression, and foot the costs of something that was atleast an attempt to 'make me whole again; where he on the other hand - outside of paying for the fix-it cut - got off scotch free.

I don't see any possible legal action, except possibly harassment. On the other hand, you got drunk , passed out, and someone cut your hair. Just be glad you didn't get raped! In the future, control your drinking and don't let yourself get drunk enough to pass out around people you don't trust.
