Someone online trying to use my lyrics without permission?

I found a member of a band online trying to collaborate with others with my copyrighted and registered lyrics without getting my permission or contacting me. They don't even say they are my lyrics .I put my lyrics to music in a software program and posted it all online for a better vocals than the one I did. I live in the U.S. and they live in Australia. How do I sue the living daylights out of these punks?
Again, I have a registered copyright with the U.S. Library of Congress.

You will need to pursue an infringement action in Australia, so your first step may be to contact an Australian copyright lawyer. I'm not sure what your damages are, but it may or may not be worth the thousands of dollars it will likely cost you to pursue a copyright infringement action overseas.
As an alternative, it may be that a stern cease-and-desist letter from an Australian copyright attorney is sufficient to have these guys stop unauthorized use of your content. An Australian copyright attorney will be in better position to provide you with all the possible options. |
