Someone was to pose as a 14-15 year old girl on a chat room to ultimately scam pedos for Warcraft items legal?

Curious, if someone was to pose as an underage girl, and "get" items from pedos, such as World of Warcraft time cards etc, is it legal? Or gray area?

The Scamming Pedos for Warcraft Items Act of 2008 makes this a misdemeanor.

I have no sympathy for anything that happens to child abusers (I dislike using the word paedophile..since that means 'someone who loves children' which they patently don't), however I would consider this a very grey area legally for the following reasons;

1) Until the 'poser' was abused or propositioned by someone, no crime has been committed. So it would just be plain theft to 'scam' anyone.

2) If such a proposition was made, your duty would be to report it to the authorities, you'd then have to explain why you were posing as a 15 year old girl, which at best would be embarrassing.

3) You run a high risk of scamming an innocent person... how will you tell the difference between a genuine 15 year old boy who just fancies his chances v a 30 year old man posing as a 15 year old boy ? If you 'scam' one innocent person you' be guilty of theft/fraud.

4) Even if you only scam abusers, this seems high risk to me... these aren't the nicest people in the world. I don't think amateurs should mess with them, whatever their motives. It's like playing with fire, doesn't matter how careful you are... it's never a good idea.

To be honest it seems like a bad idea all round, I'd leave the prosecution of abusers to the professionals and buy/earn your own WOW stuff.

Edit
In response to the previous answer, there's nothing wrong with convincing people to give you stuff. But it is illegal if you lie in order to do it. I can legally try convince anyone to send me $100, but if I do it by saying I'm a disabled war veteran (which I'm not) then that is wrong, both morally and legally.
