EVERYONE is allowed to end their life, it's just like a human right.
You people are narrow-minded, you can't understand the mental pain some people endure in life, you think everyone has an OK life like yours and you think you can speak for everyone when you say "Life is hard but never give up", some people life horrible lives, sad and alone, open your minds.
Imagine some religious or otherwise person thinking THEY can tell YOU that you HAVE to live life? Thinking they can tell you what to do with yourself. |

What makes you think that people need to be "allowed" the choice...
Don't they just do it anyway? |

But if they commit suicide, then how can the law persecute or discipline them. |

That's a difficult question. Yes, it is their life. However, their actions would affect alot of other people. I just don't know. |

yes everyone should have control of their lives
or live-endings lol |

No. People who commit suicide should receive the death penalty.
Sarcasm aside, one of the reasons suicide is legal is that people would be afraid to call for medical help if they attempted it and changed their mind halfway. |

I don't think suicide should be illegal.. if they really don't want to live, it's not good for them to have to suffer. |

I think it should be legal, because there will be no punishment for it since you are dead, so whats the point? |

I somewhat agree with you.
it all depends upon the situation.
personally, i think the ability to live is the greatest gift anyone can receive, and one shouldn't just throw it away.
i understand if you are suffering through a sickness.
but if you are just depressed, you should learn to love life no matter what.
the fact is life is unfair, and once you accept that, things will be better.
just live life to its fullest.

I don't think it matters if it's legal or not.
My main problem with it being legal is most people who commit suicide have mental illnesses that aren't being properly treated. We should be more concerned with getting people help so they won't want to end their lives, than whether it should be legal or not.
There are of course, instances where individuals are terminally ill and in tremendous amounts of pain. They too though, suffer from depression and other disorders, so are they truly able to make that decision?
It's definitely a very tough issue and I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer. Unless you bring religion into it. Which I was not. |

I think its no ones business if i want to kill myself!
Now the government wants to own my body and life?
YH RIGHT!
People will commit suicide if they want!
Im not saying its good, I think its very bad and selfish but you dnt know what those ppl are going through, how they feel and their state of mind. |

I think they should have the choice, even though it is not morally right. But if someone really thinks that they have no other choice than to die, they can. Where they go is their own choice, whether it is better or worse than their life down here depends on them.

i think it should be ok i dont think that it should be illegal. i think that its their life and if they want to end it its ok well its still very sad and the ppl mthat love that person will be very upset but its their decision |

Murder is illegal for a reason. I think it should be different for terminally ill cases, but people who would live full lives anyway, it's just needless death.
And even if any emo teenager was allowed kill themselves legally, the law allowing it would most definitely require months of therapy beforehand. |

I think you should have to apply for the right and give good reason why. Then get approval from an impartial jury.
In cases of terminal disease, it obviously makes sense at some point. Or, advanced age.
However- suicide is often the result of depression and emotional issues. It is a permanent solution for what is nearly always a temporary problem. |

People here keep talking about getting those who are depressed the "necessary treatment". Easy to say...but I had NO IDEA that my Dad was depressed. He ended his life a year ago this December 27th. I would have done everything in my power had I known, but sadly, I didn't. He lived almost 3,000 miles away, and I kick myself for never hearing clues in his voice. It's a nice thought...getting everyone help, but it can't always be done. And screw all the heaven and hell bible thumpers. I'll be with my Dad again one day. |

People do it anyway, so it being legal wouldn't make much of a difference, maybe it would increase a little.
They should be able to do what they want, they can always find some sort of help and then make their mind up. Don't you think it would be horrible for the person to have to live a life that badly that they want to die...And then the people around them knowing they're suffering but can't do anything, so they'd all feel bad but if they did commit suicide, they'd be happy and the other people can say they're in a better place. |

Uh, if someone is going to commit suicide how are you going to stop them? |

People do have the choice. Just because it's illegal doesn't mean they can't do it.
I don't think they should though, its a sin. I mean even if you are really depressed...how is going to hell a better choice?

I guess my answer is relative. I think that people should have the right to do whatever the heck they want to do with their lives... only after a certain age though.
Go ahead, people... give me the thumbs down... |

ofcourse. it's someone's choice |

I'm sorry but I don't agree with legal suicide. How would you like to deal with the burden of guilt for the rest of your life when a relative takes their life, especially when there is nothing physically wrong with them? It is a selfish act leaving those in the middle without mothers / fathers / daughters / sons etc.
I do agree with euthanasia, if a person is of sound mind & body suffering from a terminal illness. They should have the choice to document their wishes as in withdrawal of life sustaining treatment @ a certain point in the illness make them comfortable so they can pass into the next life peacably. |

Well, It's just that there are ways to become happier. It doesn't only ruins that persons life, but others aswell. It's a health issue for many. |

I think that it's rather irrelevant, after all, you can't punish a dead man.
However, if it has to be Yes/No, I would say that No, suicide should not be legal. Society functions because of the individual, and because the individual comprises society, the death of said individual detracts from society as a whole (albeit not by much).
If someone no longer wants to live, something is wrong with them. All of life is programmed to want to live, and to pursue life to the best of their abilities. There are many, many ways to help a person thinking of suicide, and I do think that counseling for depressed people should be a government-funded program to address the above points. |
