To be honest, I'm not sure most adults should be allowed to vote considering the complete lack of reason with which they approach the notion... but as long as we're going to allow people over the age of eighteen to vote without having to qualify just what good reason they have for doing things like voting on social policies that are disastrously stupid or candidates who are dangerously unqualified, I don't see any reason why teens shouldn't get to vote.
After all, the informal teen votes we take now seem to reflect at least as much maturity and consideration as the adult vote does. I believe with the exception of the Bush Presidency, the Nickelodeon Kid's Vote has accurately called the results of every presidential election since it began (though I must admit, I do find it telling that while they have consistently proven they are up to snuff with the adult population when considering a candidate for the presidency, even kids thought re-electing George W. Bush was a bad idea). |

hell no we might elect some one that might just blow up this place. so we have to let the grown-ups vote. because they know a little more about these things |

the age in which it is now legal for teen to vote is just fine think about it, how much do we learn between 14 and 18, by 18 most teens still haven't even had their first job so what gives someone who has never worked a real day in their life the right to vote, and how many teens follow political campaigns. If you don't know what is going on then you don't have thr right to vote. so maybe those that are inlisted and serving our country do but the rest do not. |

Unless the proposal is that children should vote then it must be accepted that a line has to be drawn. I personally think the line should be at the age a person can legally commence full time 'adult' work. At that point their views are not academic as issues, particularly tax law, become very real and actually affect them.
Voting is a serious issue and requires a level of maturity that many teens do not have. As I have said above, clearly a line has to be drawn somewhere. |

That is a very good question. Teens (Age varies) can already drive, smoke, join the armed forces, quit school, get married, buy property, enter into legal contracts etc.etc.
Teens in the senior levels of public school and in high school take history and civics classes. Teens are also exposed to the same media sources that many adults base their voting preferences on.
I would be in favour of reducing the voting age to 16 at least. This opinion comes from a guy who has not been a teenage for several decades. |

For your information, anyone old enough to be drafted into the military is old enough to vote legally. Check the US Constitution for further info. As far as younger teens, no. Unless we are willing to make teens full adults before the law at a certain age, (now more or less universally 18 except for drinking booze) we should not extend the rights or privileges of adulthood to them. |

If they can be sent to steal oil fields for
Halliburton then, HELL YEAH they should vote!
By the the way, maybe you should go to Iraq if
you like the idea of war so much! |

No because teens are full of ideas and ill-logical thinking.
You need to have a job for a few years. Then all your dreams will die and then you will see the world the way it really is and how it really works. |

do you mean...Should teens vote. Yes or no.
or should teens vote yes or no. Because 18 year olds can vote, but I don't know whether they should vote yes or no.
I personally believe it shouldn't be restricted by age, but knowledge of the issues. You should have to pass a test to vote. |

I'm not sure. A lot of teens would just vote like their parents. But there are many teens that would actually do research and know the reasons why they are voting for that person. |

Even though even i thought i knew something when i was a teen, now that I'm a bit older i realize how little i did. teens are more likely to take someone other opinions for theirs instead of deciding for themselves...and even if they have an opinion of their own, they won't have enough wisdom or experience to make an truly informed decision. |
