I agree! The death penalty should be back, but the judge should be certain that they have the right person first obviously. I think the levels of crime will go down and those heartless animals will suffer for what they did. Criminals are getting off too easy these days, its disgusting!

either they should spend life in jail and let them live with the guilt or take their life for taking another

There is a man in Califoria prison serving life sentance who is running a major drug ring in and out of prison. He has ordered the murders of 23 people from within his 4 walls. A team of 4 detectives read every scrap of paper the touches and regularly search his cell yet he still finds ways to pass information and have people killed. Is it worth the cost to society of letting this man live. 4 people work full time jobs just to prevent him from killing people. He is poisoning everyone around him with his very existance. He is no longer being "punished". He has adapted to his life of confinement and is not "living with the guilt".
Stop being nieve and spare the rest of us from this evil in our midst.

The death penalty is not about the criminal but about society. When someone cannot function in society then we should be done with them.

In cases where there is no doubt. Kill em. There is no reason for us to pay for their food and housing. Fry them, bury them, done.

Yes. It is a mistake to think that a civilized society is de facto pacifistic. I would suggest that any society that allows murders, rapists, molesters, and other monsters back out to prey upon it's own people is barbaric.

A society that has the courage to defend itself against evil is a TRULY civilized society.

I think that a life sentence in jail is alot better. They dont get the easy way out. They have to spend their whole lives within 4 walls on their own.

death penalty should be back!
people like that dont deserve to live, or die easily.
they should be put under harsh death penalty that will put them in the same sort of pain and agony (like how hell is in little nicky)
and we shouldn't waste our money jailing these people, just strangle him to death!

Yes,

Eye for an eye, you know the rest. Why should murders be allowed to live? If they live, they get AC, 3 meals, exercise, and all of this comes from our tax dollars. In my opinion, our society should use this sicko's for government testing. We would not be violating humanity rights because the criminals had no regard for humanity in the first place. Let them all fry.

An eye for an eye,if they take a life they should for fit theres, only if there's overwhelming evidence.

I can understand youre feelings on the death penalty - but what if it isnt the right person? I do feel that stronger punishments are needed and prison is just too soft. Maybe prisons should be as they were years ago. Bread and water with some hard labour thrown in.

Yes. Im for it definitely.

yes, this is not about punishment for me, I just don't want them to be part of our society anymore, even if they get a life sentence, technicaly that's only until 65, and then they're free again. Do you really want these people back in our society? and it's not like they'll easily assimilate back in after such a lack of freedom and a new lack of parental supervision. I'm sorry, but jail just doesn't do much good anymore for most people, especially after someone's already served time. I've known too many people that have gotten out and just reverted back to old ways. Mind you, some have changed and bettered themselves, but too many have not.

Fry them, if it has been proven beyond shadow of doubt.

hell yea!!! kill all those mother******* !!! but u know what life sentence in prison is way way much harder for prisoners think about it. 70 yrs or more in prison! mhen!!! i rather be prosecuted!

chopper
bring it back

TheMadProfessor
Tough question - if even one innocent person is executed for something they didn't do (which has happened), is that too many to allow it? OTOH, if even one guilty person gets life instead, escapes and kills again (which also has happened) is that too many to disallow it? It'd be nice if guilt or innocence was clear-cut, but unfortunately that isn't the case most of the time. Personally, if guilt is unquestionable and there is no issue whatsoever of motive (i.e., not due to simple stupidity or carelessness), I have no problem with kicking them into the big dark.

Yes. Forensic tests can now prove conclusively if a person was at the scene of a crime and providing this concurs with other evidence the death penalty should prevail.

I don't think so... because innocent people may be killed. And after all, two wrongs don't make a right.
I don't like the way prisoners are living these days though. With gyms, pool-tables and Sky TV, I think most of them just commit crimes to live in a comfortable place! There are people - ORDINARY people who've never committed any crimes - who live in conditions far below the poverty line. Is that fair?
So, the correct punishment: A life sentence with no human rights.

That's really sad for your Nan, and your family. I am an advocate for the return of Capital Punishment. I strongly believe advances in Forensic Science and DNA testing make the possibility of executing an innocent person acceptably small.

When all the forensic evidence points to the perpetrator. Then he should suffer the consequences. Taking an INNOCENT life for whatever reason should mean he gives up his right to carry on breathing. The bleeding heart brigade would change their tack, faced with the brutal sensless death of a loved one at the hands of some despicable person, who thanks to them the perp., gets life in prison. Then somewhere down the line gets a reduced sentence. Then a parole board lets him out!! What then? invite him in for tea because he`s changed. So the answer is :Death Penalty.YES

I think they should get the death penalty (assuming certainty of guilt), and I also believe that it shouldn't be humane (none of this wussy lethal injection stuff).

Liberal & Proud!
i'm for it...there are certain people out there that will never make, in any way, a positive contribution to this world. i know it sounds cruel, but those people shouldn't be around to influence anyone else.
my wife says we can't make that decision, everyone has the right to life...i think there are some crimes (like what you described) that revokes that right.

Tinman12
He that murders, forfeits his own life.
When the evidence is there and strong, if found guilty, then that person should be executed for their crime, especially when rape is involved.
No life sentence, but execute.

The Cockney Rebel
Yes with the advancement of DNA. and without shadow of doubt, I would vote for the death penalty to be brought back
