These are police?
Find answers to your legal question.

These are police?

A young boy has drowned because two gutless so called Comunity officers just stood by and watched. They were not trained say Greater Manchester police. I`m not trained to try and save a life but I couldnt just stand there and do nothing. These so called MEN are just another stupid attempt to mislead us into thinking that governments are doing something about the way this country is becoming.Another lot of arrogant creeps in uniform to tell us what to do.Whoever came up with this one should resign before another kid dies watched by useless, gutless Comunity Officers. They should be charged with manslaughter.

They should be fired for their stupidity

it is truly cowardly behaviour.
even though a poor swimmer i would have had a go, i simply could not stand by and watch a child drown.
how will they sleep at night?

hating the imprints & the girl
I know a lot of crooked cops, and I generaly don't like police, but sometimes I'm glad their there- the good ones. I don't understand how someone can stand by and watch some one drown. My mother once did that to me, but my brother pulled me out. People like that should not have a badge... or children.

vdv_desantnik
maybe not manslaughter but certainly something like negligent homicide

Bardic
I quite agree with your disgust. Any decent person would surely have made an attempt to the best of their ability, whether "trained" or not. Absolutely sickening.

bbbs
i have heard that the officers cannot swim...very shocking if that is true...
i would have thought that would come under basic training...
And even if they were not meant to, where were there basic bl00dy human instinct....more like a pair of morons they didnt know what to do with so stuck a uniform and badge on

There's the story, if anyone wants to read it. This is amazing. What exactly are these officers trained to do? I mean, if they don't have the common sense to take off thier shoes and try to help a kid that's drowning, what ARE they trained for? Sipping a latte and passing out parking tickets? They actually waited five minutes while help arrived...as a boy drowned. I'm truly shocked, and that doesn't happen very often.

lucy
this is very sad for all concerned. we want more fully trained proper police officers that can cope in any situation

Two questiuons on this if anyone can advise: What are Community Support police? and, in the newpaper article one answerer has provided it seems the brave little lad slipped under thewater after trying to rescue his sister. Dis these Community Police SEE him, or did they only have information he was there? I think that would make some difference (I am NOT trying to stand up for them). If you SAW a child struggling or were told that a child MIGHT be in danger, maybe that would make some difference? I don't know. I really feel so sorry for this family, what a terrible thing, but what a brave little boy.

Roggles
I would like to defend the police but this time i cant except to say that most serving officers feel as we do about Browns Bobbies.

Unfortunatly the idea is a good one but as usual underfunded and to apply the recources to make it work, would be better spent on putting well trained well equiped full time officers on the beat.

Now the picture is coming into focus.

You were making some sense, in a rightly angry manner up until your last statement about the manslaughter charge. Your point though is very valid and it is a travesty what happened. If I was one of those officers or indeed just a passer by then I could not live with myself if I had seen that and not done all I could to try and help.

While you're about it, how about charging the father for allowing them in the lake?

if you saw this incident why didn't you do something? why were you gutless and just let the boy die?

The Police are not required to save lives. It goes to the core to say that you cannot rely on the Police or the government to save you.

The Manchester event reminds me of the event in New Orleans; people died sitting around waiting for th government to save them.

The Police are trained to write reports not save people from drowning.

Train your children to be as self reliant as possible. The life they save may be their own.
