The driver and the speed, there are speed limits for a reason, if you drive over the speed and hit somebody with your car, you are more likely to kill them then just hurt them. |

Wrong.....its the speed....especially in built up areas where children can run out without warning....going too fast, you have no time to react.....so its the speed, not the driver.... |

Yes but the driver is usually speeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

The vehicle is a mode of transport. Put someone behind the wheel, then it becomes a weapon if used irrationally eg speeding, mobile phones, alcohol etc. |

it a mixture of both. speed limits are there for a reason and that is to save lives. but it is the drivers fault if they ignore the speed limits. |

The driver controls the speed. |

but if the driver is going too fast, they are far more likely to get into dangerous situations, and be unable to avoid such situations. Possibly the driver wouldn't kill if he wasn't going so fast. Why the rush anyway? Why not set out a little earlier and not have to drive fast? |

So you're policy on speed limits would be "Drive as fast as you like, where ever you want. But don't hurt anyone"? Great idea.... I'm sure that everyone would treat that system responsibility and that road deaths would drop to zero...
Speed limits are in place to minimise the risk of causing an injury. It doesn't matter who's behind the wheel; if you're driving too fast you're less likely to aviod a potential accident, or cause one.
If that's your attitude you shouldn't have a driving licence, and I hope to god that you don't drive through my town anytime soon as there are a lot of children that play in the streets. |

That's just like saying that "guns don't kill people, people kill people". If that person didn't have the gun then they wouldn't be able to kill that person with it. It is a combination of the two. |

Yes, the driver who drives at high speed kills not only himself but the passengers in the vehicle too.

The driver is liable so the courts agree with you. So what? |

Did you mean to write "Are fatal accidents due to speed or to incompetant driving?" ?
The answer is - both. Driving too fast is incompetent driving. |

onesmart you are not that smart if you believe that.
An idiot driver in a stationary vehicle never killed anyone with that vehicle. |

Yes, but speed is an aggravating factor.
Fast and SLOW speeds by the way.
Slow drivers prompt people to pass sometimes dangerously.
Keep up your speed.
In multiple lane roads ... Drive in the right lane except when passing another vehicle. |

Speed does kill but I still think the speed limits in many places are stupidly low, and speed cameras are most often put in place to make money rather than keep people safe. |
