I understand your concern, sadness and frustration. But "bad guys" will find a way to acquire weapons and nobody can convince me otherwise. A ban would ultimately take a means for good people to protect themselves and their property from this unbridled evil. |

No
Do you really think that guns would be gone?
The only people who would not have guns would be the law abiding citizens....all of the criminals will still have them. |

No... I think it's time that we let everybody have a gun.
See how many people start shooting others when everybody else has a gun. |

No, the people who are desperate to have them to do bad things with them would find ways anyways, duh. Don't compare the USA to the UK??? and other countires, really. |

I understand why you would ask that question, as there are so many people who believe that you can just wave a magic wand and make the problem go away, that others start to believe it is true.
But the fact is that banning guns would actually make things worse.
If you look at some of the US cities that have a handgun ban or other ownership-limiting laws, you will find is that they have some of the highest rates of violent crime in the country. Chicago, Washington DC, etc. have huge problems, because the criminals know that the law-abiding citizenry cannot carry a weapon, and that gives them the advantage. Laws only work when people obey them; criminals rarely obey laws.
Most of the incidents you cite are the result of people not getting the mental health help they need. In the Binghamton case, no one who knew the shooter was surprised, so why didn't this guy get help? That's the important question. |

if a lot more good guys had guns out there the problem would be much smaller |

If we ban guns, criminals will still have them as they don't acquire them by legal means and good law abiding citizens will not be able to protect themselves. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If someone wants to kill, they will with or without a gun. Look at all those poor people in Africa getting hacked up by machetes. |

The only ones who would suffer would be the law abiding citizens who have a right to protect themselves and their families.
The ones doing the shooting would find an illegal way to get the guns anyway.
We have a constitutional right to bear arms. |

That's what the criminals want to happen then their jobs would be easier |

Nope, it's time we kick those who want to ban guns out of the United States. |

BANNING GUNS IS LIKE FINDING A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK. |

I say no fu***ng way. I have a concealed carry permit, and carry a pistol alot of places I go. One time in the park, later in the evening, a homeless guy tried to mug me with a knife. If I had not had that with me, and had not been able to protect myself, he would have had his way that night. Look up stories just like this one, they are all over the place. PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO HAVE GUNS IN AMERICA. Anyone that doesnt like it is FREE to leave at any time. |

Absolutely NOT!
Criminals would have weapons and the rest of us law abiding citizens would be left defenseless.
The problem isn't the guns, the problem is people with mental issues.
We should NEVER hand over our power and rights to the government to control.
We have a RIGHT to bear arms, it's our constitutional right.
Instead we need to fix our healthcare system and help these people with mental health issues before it gets to that point. THAT is the root of the problem, not the guns. |

Whats so enjoyable about being killed by an unlicensed illegal gun, that people miss out on if they get shot by a legal one? |

I know at least 7 ways to kill if that is what i was wanting to do, and none require a gun. But i like that option if necessary. |

No people who want to get a gun for illegal use will get a gun. The people who follow the law will be left defenseless. And I have had a relative murdered so dont assume you know how I feel. If he had had a gun he might have been able to defend himself but he did not own one. |

Only if the cops give up their guns too, like in the UK. Sometimes innocent people are killed by cops; it goes both ways. I feel for all the lives that have been lost on both sides. |

I would like to say no, but it is getting harder to defend the right to bear arms when gun nuts keep using their guns on people. |

It's horrible but it's a supply demand thing. If we don't have guns and other countries do were weaker. If we get our law enforcement stronger guns the criminals get some better than those. |

Since the firearms amendment act in 1997, gun homicides have averaged approx. 60 a year in the UK.
In the USA that figure is closer to 8,000 a year.
Even taking into account the larger US population, there is still way more gun homicides in the US than the UK. Conclusion: place tighter restrictions on the sale of guns in the US. |
