Drink at last 2 litres of water, eat only fresh/raw vegetables and fruit, rehydrate with a Gatorade (it has electrolytes in it), steam your face over a bowl of water with eucalyptus drops in it, get an early night's sleep, blow as much gunk out your nose as possible, get lots of hugs from people who love you, and go to sleep with sweet dreams in your head. You cant cure a cold but you can alleviate the symptoms. You are doing right with Beechams. Hot drinks are always comforting you can get Night Nurse for a good nights sleep and Day Nurse which will make you feel better during the day without feeling drowsy.

If you do everything to get rid of the cold, it may still last seven days. If you don't do anything, you may expect it to last a week. Sorry, but that's it.

try and go into a sauna, i done in for 3 days in a row, now I'm totally fine, try that, all the best, hope you feel better soon, also try hot lemonade,take care

Apart from all that, try to get as much rest as possible. Your body will need the energy to fight the infection.

You can try a humidifier or keep doing what you are doing , there isn't really anything to take it away quickly , sorry hope you at least feel better tomorrow.

I red recently that the vegetable ''' Karella @ is stupendous in getting rid of a cold and it has even more potency in other ilnesses Diabetees Aids etc
Its also called Bitter Melon , it looks like a vernobbly cucmber BUt Beware ! it is as bitterr as Gaul but its very good for curbing the appetite sir fry it with vegetables like Eggplant .
But believe me it is bitter and anaquried taste but SOOOO
good for you !

A Common Cold cannot be 'got rid of' as you put it. It will take it's course.
I once spoke to a Doctor about this and this was his reply:

"Well, it's like this. I could give you some medicine that would see your cold disappear in a week but you could cure yourself in 7 days, just by waiting".
Good luck with your exams. I took the 11+ many years ago. When I finished, I collapsed with pneumonia and was very poorly - but I passed the Exam and went to Grammar School!

All you can do is take the advice others have given, a preparation to relieve the symptoms, making you 'feel' better until the week, or 7 days is up.

All the other suggestions are good, but the chances your cold are gone tomorrow are 50/50. The point is, you don't want to be suffering through the exam so I suggest some ibuprofen to relieve whatever pain or discomfort you're going through whilst you do the exam. Also be careful with antihistamine, that may make you sleeping and that's something you don't want during a test. Good luck!!

I asked a similar question last night. Apparently if u take antihistamine it'll dry u up long enough to take an exam. Good luck. Hope the exam goes well and that u feel better soon.

try actifed tablets they are cold teblets with antihistimine so they stop all the sympotoms,,,i had a cold last week n they are really good clear it up fast....

and try honey, lemon, tumeric warmed together to soothe a sore throat tickly cough....

or get an asian friend to cook u a mean curry with plenty of ginger, garlic n tumeric in it....

and chicken soup is always good aswell for colds....

and vitamins and iron build ur immune system up a little....

and before u go in exam take 2 nurofens with a small glass of some fizzy pop like coke...acts a bit quicker and will give u a little spark which u may need for ur exam....

oh and try menthol crystals in hot water with the towel over head.....

and rest....

DO NOT TAKE THE NIGHT NURSE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR EXAM....(i had experiences with these that left me drowsy during day even...not good

Buy some Scotch Whiskey, Put a nip in a china cup and heat it in some hot water. Drink it before u go to bed. Wrap up in blankets and be prepared to sweat all night. In the morning, the alcohol will have killed the germ and u should be fine. But be prepared for a sweaty night.
