I agree with legal abortion. You only have to look back to see how many women died through going to back street abortionists. Everybody has the right to choose and it's never an easy decision to make. |

I would be happy if both men and women thought a bit before giving in to the reckess urges that result in unwanted pregnancy.
And as a woman I would be content to see people experiencing the consequences of thier reckless behaviour, whatever that behaviour.
It is time to reinsert the idead of 'Personal Responsibility' back into our culture. |

I believe abortion is a necessary evil. Of course in an ideal world everyone would make rational choices and there would be no unwanted pregnancies. But unfortunately life just ain't like that. |

Women need to take responsibility for the actions......
If a woman is raped or subjected to incest, or if the baby is ill or the birth will physically harm the mother then I can see were an abortion would be needed and accepted.
But if you are out screwing around and you don't have the self control to use birth control, then you need, you have the responsibility to carry that child to term. It should not be held accountable for your stupidity.
Bird and Sakira, you both say that you are pro-choice but what you are really saying is that you DO NOT have the self control to make a wise decision when faced with an emotional event.

i don't completely disagree with abortion. But it's sad when the same girls or women have had 3 or more abortions. If you can afford one abortion then you can't afford to be without freakin birth control! Sure, it is a womans body and she should decide what to do with it. But what about the fetus involved? And with so many options out there........ so many couples longing to be parents who are unable to do so because of fertility issues. Why not let someone else have the opportunity to be a parent? |

How many women are going to die on the streets vs. how many babies are killed each year in abortions? I will be willing to bet that the babies killed using abortions will be 200 times higher than the women killed in the streets. |

Yes. Then the women would not be using abortion as a form of birth control. Many women who get an abortion have already had one or more. If the only way to get an abortion has the side effect of being life threatening, many women will choose to use other forms of birth control.
Abortion is not just about killing an unborn child. The effects on the mother are devastating. I know of a young woman who was pressured to have an abortion because the father was unwilling to provide support, her family was far away, and she lived in poverty. She finally agreed to the procedure, but during it she wanted to stop. It was too late, and the clinic had to sedate her so she wouldn't disturb the other patients with her agonizing screams. This young woman never truly got over the experience. Not only was the life of a child lost, but the emotional and spiritual health of the mother was as well. |
