The repair company should have a record of who signed for it. You may be able to get compensation from them or they might inform the police saving you the trouble.

Why don't you knock on and ask them but put it something like this...

"the delivery people say one of the neighbours signed for it, but they didn't say which neightbour, nightmare! So I'm just asking all nearest neighbours on the off chance... See I'm gonna have to make a claim on my insurance for it.... I just hope the insurance company don't get the police involved, don't need all this hassle!... So you haven't seen it then? Ok no probs, sorry to bother you"

Then you are giving them the information that the police maybe involved but you're not directly accusing them of nicking it. Probably your laptop will appear in the middle of the night lol good luck = )

Bite the bullet. Laptops are too expensive for people to steal. I'm not sure I believe that they'll break your legs, but if they do, then you've got two criminal charges on them--theft AND assault. The police surely can't ignore that...

i would say the delivery agent should sort this problem out as they never delivered to the correct address and person named on the delivery note.
it is not your problem basically to trace the where abouts as long as you personally did not sign for the goods then as far as your concerned the delivery agent should replace your missing goods.

Tricky yes, but shouldn't be, the repair company gave it to a courier who didn't deliver it to you, it's between the two of them to sort: why should you have to follow up their laziness if you don't want to? or make a claim to keep them from having to correct the error. I would try get them to sort it. "May have taken delivery" is no poof the courier did their job.

now i am a firm believer in the phrase do unto others as they would do unto you but do it first and go round and break their legs if i knew they had signed for it. but in reality do you actually know it was them that signed for it. even the old bill couldn't prove that they signed for it so just claim on the insurance.

First, call your insurance company to find out what you need to file a claim against it. You may need verifiable proof they signed for the laptop. If you do, report it to the police, then file a claim with the insurance company. You will probably need something from either the delivery company or a police report showing due diligence in trying to retrieve it for the insurance company to pay off on it. You may also need a receipt for the laptop to prove value.
As far as them being a bunch of hardas ses it is up to you to decide exactly how you will deal with it. I wouldn't make any unproven accusations until you are positive they signed for it. If they did, I personally wouldn't care if they were related to Al Capone. But not everyone wants that hassle. Up to you and your comfort level to decide.

unless your laptop has vital information on it that you need at all costs, then claim off your insurance. If your neighbours are unlikely to give you your laptop back, save yourself the grief and worry. Depending on your relationship with them, you could politely enquire if they received it because the delivery company told you that's what happened, but if they deny it you don't have much choice other thsn call the police or bite the bullet. I would go to say that your legs are more important than your laptop.................................

Did you give approval to the repair company that any signature is okay for receipt? Then file a claim with your insurer - you didn't get your laptop.

Otherwise, it does not sound as if you *know* that your neighbors signed for it. That is just an educated guess on your part.

I think that this is a problem between the delivery company and the repair company. File a claim with the repair company - you did not receive the goods you expected.

Claim and keep the peace, but next time arrange a different delivery address if you think you`re not gonna be there when you get items like this.

Ask for it back it's your right to ask,if there is any trouble you can then call the police,and why did they take delivery of it anyway as it was addressed to you,is the postman at fault here?good luck to you in whatever way you chose to go

I would claim off the insurance - after all you have to live nextdoor to them and you do say may have it, if you report it to the police and then find out its a mistake ... not worth the hassle

The answetr to this is simple. You did sign for it or gewt it, so the delivery company, regardless of who they gave it to you, it was not you, are liable for its loss.

Simply prove that you did not sign for it, or that this was ot possible as you can prove you were elsewhere, ding dong, one new lap top.

Contact Parcel Parcelline and tell them to get the computer back as they had no right to give it to anybody Else bar the consignee it is actually their responsibility. If they refuse then tell them that you will contact legal people to resolve it.

My advise is leave your neighbours alone and deal around them.
