Trust Fund money possibly stolen?! I need BIG help, thanks.?

Ok, first off thank you for your time

When I used to live in New York, when I was about 6 I tripped over a cracked sidewalk outside a small store and hit my head on a dumpster that should have been placed within his property.

My father sued them, about 7 or 8 years later, I am living in Miami and the case came up and we fly over to New York for the suit and won. Supposedly I won about $10,000 in the form of a trust fund, for when I turned 18.

My parents moved and placed everything in Storage and couldn't pay so they lost EVERYTHING, including all paperwork of any kind.

So from what I know, because my parents don't remember ANYTHING coincidentally, I remember the court was in Queens, NY, and my attorney was israeli, and thats about it lol.

--------------------------------------...

NOW MY QUESTION IS........I am still in Miami, I'm 20, and with no information on anything, who do I go to, to investigate or look up any files? How can I claim this money or find the case? Private Investigator?

OR...... is it possible my parents lied to me and the money was placed with them since I was only 14, and they stole the money that was rightfully mine? They did develop a bad drug habit...I wouldn't put anything past them...It seems very plausible.

-Thank you in advance, Jeff

If the case was handled in Queens NY, the municipal court office there should have copies of the case records. As an interested party, you should be able to request a copy of the case file, there will be a fee for research and copying, most likely.

If the trust was ordered as part of the case (very possible), then the executors of the trust should be listed in the document, you can contact them to see what happened to the money. If it is not listed in court documents, finding the trust will be almost impossible without further information (at least the name of the lawyer or the financial institution where the trust was held).

If all else fails, if there is any money in the trust, after a certain number of years, inactive accounts are sent to the state unclaimed property, this will probably take between 12-14 years from when the trust matured (your 18th birthday) but I would start checking around age 25.
