Whats your point if we are more like American police we might actually get a job done. Give the police guns and we will be sorted |

Welcome to the real World, a police state is what they want and it will come sooner rather than later. Instead of just believing what's in newspapers, read between the lines. |

I have lost respect for the police, not because of violence from them, but because they do little if anything to solve most crime.
They seem to expect victims of crime to be able to give the name, address, and shoe size of the culprits, which is difficult when you don't see them.
Even when you give the police a video tape with the action on, and the sound of the action, you cannot even expect them to give you your video back, even years after the incident, when it is clear no action will be taken, or in the one case when they made good use of the video, after the case has been dealt with.
If the police beat you and your friend up, they have broken the law, the police are not the law, they are the enforcers of the law, they have no right to beat people up.
I trust you reported their actions to the independent police complaints board, and to the chief constable.
I know there was corruption within the police in my area when I made a valid complaint, and they failed to investigate due to lies from the deputy chief constable. But unless you are prepared go through the proper procedure, you lose the right to complain in places like Yahoo answers. |

One thing you should have done if this alleged assault took place was to make your complaint to the police custody sergeant at the police station if you were arrested. Secondly, you should have asked to be seen by a doctor whilst in their custody. and you should also have returned to see an Inspector at the police station when you were released. I am sure that many police officers will agree with me that alleged assaults by police are in the minority and do not reflect the great work that Police Officers do every day. it only takes a few to spoil the view of the many good. |

Oh I'll bet you were doing something to provoke them. Not that it's right for them to do it, but it's only bad guys that get beat up this way - if you'd been completely innocent it wouldn't have happened. |

How long have you known you lived in hell? And how does it make you feel? Do you like that feeling? What might the feeling manifest itself as? Do you think you'd be able to reproduce that exact feeling anytime you wanted and still be honest? Do you admire the balance that you live within? Why do you like it? Will you survive this hateful regime - or subvive it? Lol, thanks for the question - sorry you got beaten up. I'm sorry I got beaten up. I guess it's my own fault. Sincerely, a runner, not a fighter. |

for police to have done that much damage to you you must have either A-resisteded an arrest B-tried to run, (again resisting arrest) C-showed threatening behaviour
these are ARRESTABLE OFFENSES
in these cases the police are right in useing "reasonable force" to restrain you as you are seen as an immediate danger to them and the people around you. reasonable force is debatable
also if the injuries were that bad you would be making charges against the officers which you should have done in the station at the time...
take pictures of these bruises and take down thebadge number of the officers in question...
if the beatings were as bad as you claimed then i think you have a pretty damn good case against them... |

If you feel that the Police were over zealous in their actions you have a right to report them and their actions. If enough reports are made against the officers in question they will face disciplinary action and maybe even sacking and prison.
If however, you was resisting arrest and being abusive, you may have got a few marks from a scuffle. |

well im sorry but you must have done SOMETHING im sure they didnt just pick a fight in the street, and if they did im sure it would be all over the news by now. if you feel it was that serious im interested to know whether you have put in a complaint. our police should be given the right to over power people with more than just batons and cs gas aswell, thats why this country is a soft touch for crime |

The police have been doing this for decades, if not centuries. I suspect it happens less now than it used to. |

I have always found the UK police to be polite and attentive when I have encountered them.
My guess is that you got caught by a few of the bad apples. Did you raise a formal complaint ? That would have got you a proper beating. |

Seriously - if there really is a cause for complaint, about the Police making an unprovoked attack on you or your friend, make a complaint as soon as possible.
There is information on making a formal complaint on the Independent Police Complaints Commission's website. I've provided a link below.
Make sure you get a note of any witnesses and (if possible) the numbers of the officers involved etc. Also, whilst its still fresh in everyones minds, write down what happened as clearly and concisely as possible. Complaints can take time so its better to have it down now before time makes things fuzzy.
Don't worry about getting a bad rep. Next time they might hurt someone seriously and do you really want that on you because you didn't speak up? |
