Unbelievable lawsuit against Korean dry cleaners filed by a judge?

Now how many problems can you come up with from this story? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070503/ap_on_fe_st/65_million_dollar_pants

It was a lawyer that filed it, but I would like to see what judge in his right mind would actually go for that. I mean come on! A $3000 pair of pants and they dry cleaners offered $12000 to settle. Where does he think they are going to come up with $67 million? All that just for a pair of fricken pants! Quite honestly, when I saw the lawyer was a black guy and the dry cleaners were Korean, I think it's got a little more to do with just the pants - I think he's racist and probably getting tired of his job. With $67 million (if he actually wins that) he'll never have to work again. He's just looking for an easy out and I feel sorry for the Koreans that ended up being his target....Dude, people make mistakes and misplace things. Hasn't he ever made a mistake? It's a fricken pair of pants....get over it. You're a lawyer, you have money, go buy some more. No wonder everyone hates lawyers and every one is so "sue-happy" on the most ridiculous things. |

OMG, how retarded is that? Leave it to a lawyer (most judges start out as lawyers) to do something like that. I swear, lawyers are ruining this great country of ours. |

The only problem is that he thinks his stupid pants are worth $67 million. I wish I were the judge in that case. I would find for the plaintiff-- and award him the cost of replacing the pants and not a penny more. That would be a defeat. |

Now that's I've been telling you all about US Law, Lie-rs, Fraud you name it, in the US government 2. |

Talk about a frivolous lawsuit.
Did he really have mental suffering because he didn't get his pants back that day?
Was not getting this pants back the same day worth 65 million bucks of inconvenience.
Guess he thinks he's going to be presiding over his own case. |

Oh My GOD.
Talk about the epitome of the sue-happy society.
No wonder everyone hates lawyers. And the fact that he is a judge...Scary.
Hasn't he ever heard of people making a mistake? I could see him asking for a little compensation for having to make a second trip to retrieve the pants, being inconvenienced, maybe a few free cleanings, but for crying out loud. Anything over $100 is vicious. |

I don't' think he's going to win. yes he's upset but c'mon that suit is outrageous, you would think that since he's a judge he would be fair and reasonable...I guess he's not getting paid well and is trying to scam the same system he works for. |

Not as many as face the defendants. Civil suits are so nasty, so biased and so full of misrepresentations! Why? The attorneys are not legally or morally bound to be honest, or speak truth, or even have facts to support the alleged wrongdoing! They can spin the tale any way they like to batter and bruise the defendants, and brainwash the trier of fact (judge or jury). |

It shows that the law only benifits people who work in it. |
