Better to abort than bring up an unwanted 'unloved' child. Its not to do with religion, its about personal choice. People with no regard for contraception should have a bit more thought though. |

From a personal point of view I don't agree with it, but wouldn't like to pass judgement on others. |

I believe abortion is wrong.
I believe forcing women to have children they won't or can't bring up is a bigger wrong. |

against it unless for reasons of rape or abuse |

Good question.
I never had any really strong views until I was pregnant in the early 80's. I wasn't married and the first thing the GP asked me was "what did I want to do?"
I decided to have my baby. Times have moved on; I have supported friends who have chosen to have an abortion.
Its a personal choice; unfortunately some women use it as a form of birth control. I disagree strongly with that.
If a woman is unmarried now it seems she has the sole right to decide on the future of the unborn baby. Men do not seem to have any say in the matter. I know it is a mine-field but its something that should be considered.
I believe that, if abortion is going to be an option; it should happen as early in the pregnancy as possible. If the man wants to be around then he should be involved in the choices available.
I couldn't do it myself but I have no problem with the concept, as long as it is well reasoned. |

OK, it's basically infanticide, yes?
But what if the child (ie foetus/embryo) is so messed-up that it can't have a worthwhile life? You have to make-up your own mind about what is worthwhile. And if the mother is in serious danger if the pregnancy is allowed to continue, or pregnant through rape? It's such a minefield!
I would prefer to judge each on its own merits. if I had to judge at all. |

I believe you should not take it lightly. Tests have proved that it can have health implications in your later life. |

I don't have a problem with it..its the womens body and she has a right to do as she wishes...no one is really happy about an abortion or really loves an abortion..i just think a women should have that right to make a choice about her body...i don't feel that a man should have the right to tell a women what she can and can't do... |

I was discussing this with my mother yesterday, we think there should be a limit on the nuimber you can have without having your reproductive system halted in some way.
I don't think that a rape victim should be forced to keep a rapists baby, nor give birth to that child only for it to end up in a children's home. |

I don't like the idea of abortion, being that there are so many people out there desperate for a baby who can't have one, and I also think it's a decision that we really don't have the right, as human beings to make. Then again, I am in a stable relationship and I have been around younger children forever, so I would be ok if I happened to get pregnant right now, if I did not have my boyfriend or the support of my family I can see why it would terrify so many people.
I think the abortion rate should be lowered because at twenty four weeks the baby is perfectly formed, just too small, and some born at that age have actually survived, but other than that I think we should stay out if it, nobody can tell someone what to do until they have been in the situation themselves. |

I believe abortion is wrong. I grant you that in some cases it may be necessary, but only as a last resort. After a very short period (I'm sorry I don't know the exact amount or time but I know it is a very short time) there is a heart beat. If there is a heart beat there is life. |

I am very pro-choice. The government has no right to force a woman to have a child. It's not the government's job to legislate morals; it's an individual's job to do what they see as fit for themselves. |
