Its obviously a theft. Report it to the police and call your bank to report the fraud. |

That is just one more evidence that smoking is BAD for you! I think you may be stuck with their decision.
On second thought, since it was on tape, I think you've got a good case. Keep after them. Even if you had your receipt, it would show the $218 charge, but the video clearly shows you with only the smokes.
Stop smoking. |

forget the video tape.....
my car was keyed in a walmart parking lot thanks to an insane guy wanting my parking spot....
police got called and everything....
did walmart cough up the video tape??
heck no.........
rule of thumb --- never go to walmart |

yes, it was paid on a debit card, so your bank has proof & if you allow walmart to look your card up on their machine they SHOULD be able to look it up. contact your bank tomorrow and tlel them the scam. they will have helpful advice for you. |

let your bank dispute it with walmart all you have to do is tell your bank the same thing you said here. Walmart can pull the register tape from that register and that day if they wanted to just tell your bank and let them fight with walmart, your bank will refund your money and get theirs back from walmart |

I doubt you can make them pay but they can look at the receipts and know what they did and that's just money in the rich man's pocket. I would have the charge stopped at my bank, I would pay the 20.00 charge or whatever it is and stop it, it is just like a check I think. Good luck |

I have a question for you... why are you in WALMART buying cigarettes in the first place? There are plenty of other places to feed your vice.
WalMart=EVIL |

I would..218 ..wew...lot of money. Go and talk to the manager and show him/her the transaction and to play the tape. Don't take we can't do anything for an answer. They need to credit you. |

Walmart has the THE best data collection system in the world BAR NONE! If they wanted to they could tell you exactly what happened. If they can tell you how many crayons are on the shelf in China in real time, they can figure it out if they want. Get transaction details and time stamps from the bank. Then get the GM involved and don't leave until you get your money back, the idea being, his time is valuable make him waste more than 218 dollars of store time dealing with you, and he should pay you just to get you out of his hair. |

Call the bank and recoupe the money. If it was an over payment legally you can take it back since it was an electronic payment. WalMart will try to sue you but the burden of proof will be on them. Plus they will only be able to sue for the amout of the cigarettes. So settle out of court on that.
Oh and try to quit smoking. |

The problem with not having the receipt is they don't know for sure that you didn't buy anything else with those cigs.. or that you even did get overcharged! But I would suggest getting a statement of transactions from your bank (with date and preferably time of the transfer from WM - if the time isn't on there it's best if you have an idea of what time this transaction occured) ..then take it to WM and ask to speak with the office manager (or whoever else is in charge of the money and transaction stuff) Explain what happened and ask them if they can look up journals (hopefully) to verify what was bought (this is why knowing the time helps!) They SHOULD be able to do this for you (maybe not right then and there but within 2-3 days) and hopefully return your money.
(If not you'll have to go with another method, but I'd say try this first.) |

Talk to your bank and initiate a 'chargeback'.
Unfortunately it is not free (with most banks), but it certainly doesn't cost 218 dollars..... you are not guaranteed to win, but I seriously doubt Walmart will contest it. As soon as you initiate the chargeback, your bank will reverse the charge and Walmart will have to fight to get the money back or give in and let you win. Good luck. |

Contact your bank, get a transcript (printed out) of what you bought, take it to walmart as soon as possible and tell them to bring up the receipts for that amount, at that time. |

It there any news reporter you can call who fights for consumer rights? This might make a juicy story. Do you have a copy of the video tape? If not, see a lawyer.
WalMart is disreputable in many respects and the public should know about it.
Oh, yeah, between the video tape and your bank sttement, you have the truth. |

Yes you can they should have the transactions of the cashier on their daily reports at teh end of their shift. I would definitely fight this one who wants to pay that much for cancer sticks?? |

The debit transaction from your bank can tell you where you made your purchase. When you contacted walmart they should have known that 218 was way too much for cigarettes. When you get the bank transaction get them to pull the transaction tape for the date and will show the amount that will match up with yours which they will not be happy to do but....it was there mistake and you as a customer request this. If it isn't done call the cooperation for Walmart stores. |

I would go back to wal-mart. Ask for the person that handle transactions after it leaves the cash register. Not the store manager. Explain what has happened. That other guy got her purchase for a lot less then he payed for it. Then see if the person can find yours and his transaction. It should not be hard. It would be the last 4 digit of your card number. You may need to tell them it was a MasterCard or Visa if used as a signature transaction.
If they will not help you.
Your bank can provide you with a copy of the receipt for a fee.
Then if there is still a problem. Dispute the charge with the bank.
Try to be calm when doing this. So they will not throw you out of the store or bank. |

Did you talk to store to the store manager? If not,try that first, and make sure its a store manager, not a customer service mng. or ***. mngr.Ask specifically for the store mngr.If that dont work then call the district mngr. The # should be hung up somewherenear the courtesy desk/customer service,if you dont see it,ask for it.If your still given the fun around, tell them your not only going to call head office in Bentonville,Arkansas but your gonna call the local news media too.The news media loves to make bad press for Wal-Mart,theyed have a field day with it.If they still give you the run around call head office or the news, either way your gonna win.Take this all the way up if you have, they try to rip people off all the time.Dont let them get away with it. |

Wow, I am sorry this is happening to you. Go back to Walmart & ask to talk to that persons boss's boss, then that persons boss, really go as high up as you can. This is insanely unfare. And I really like the idea of going to a tv station WITH NAMES. Talk to your bank too. I dont know about your money situation, but I work VERY HARD for 218. I would try every possible avenue b4 letting this go. And good luck. Oh, and ignore the idiots harping the "smoking" part of your story. Dumb*sses. |

Wow that's got to be the most expensive pack of cigarettes ever dude.... You would think a big company like Wal-Mart could afford to give you the refund. Sadly they have better lawyers than you could even hope to have. Chalk it up to harsh life experience and learn the lesson well: ALWAYS check your receipt!! |

Secksy,
Call your bank and do a Regulation E claim.
Insist on it, they have to do this by law.
Regulation E protects debit card users in situations like this. You will get a provisional credit for the disputed amount back into your account while the investigation is being done. |

You paid $218 for a pack of smokes? I'm sure I would have noticed it at the time. I can't believe you just swiped your card and didn't look at what you were being charged. "Buyer beware" |

go straight to the bank and dispute it...you don't need a receipt
i lost my wallet last month and 2 fraudulent charges showed up on my next statement ( i lost a visa debit card) i presented the statement to the banker, signed a paper, they are currently investigating the charges. They said if it was fraudulent, every cent of it would be returned to my account. kinda same principle, in your case
after i got my money back, i'd trek back to walmart just to tell the customer service lady in a loud voice " NO WORRIES ABOUT THAT MONEY YOU STOLE FROM MY ACCOUNT, THE BANK PAID IT BACK! add insult to injury for fun ( if security isn't already helping you out the door) tell Doris-associate-35yrservice that you understand its hard to remember everything on your first day
I HATE WALMART! probably a good thing i never go there! |

When you pay by debit, the little card swiper should have asked you if the amount charged is okay. |

Get a lawyer to write them a letter. If that dossent work, tell them you are going to spill your guts to a local TV stations consumer reporter.
Also the credit card company can possibly dispute the charges. They will have some arbitration mechanism to resolve the issue. |
