Obviously this is a wind up but I'm going to give you the legal answer anyway.

If you beleived yourself to be under threat, i.e was she menacing when she asked? i.e DO YOU F*****G WANT DECKING TO***R then you had a right to defend yourself. The legal requirement that you must retreat or be harmed first is no longer in effect so as long as you genuinely beleived that you were under threat of attack ..... YES you could use this as a defence, you would need a genius of a lawyer to argue it successfully though.

Would this be a joke?? I believe she was referring to patio decking if you were in a hardware shop, although depending on your mindset I can see how someone saying this could be interpreted either way. I think you should have asked her what she meant before steaming in, but of course if she was acting aggressively. then to go defensive is of course a natural reaction. But I suppose out of little acorns big things grow, seems to be the way of things nowadays, small things get blown out of all proportion and you end up in the s*it faster than you know whats happening.

I had a similar experience. A guy in the hardware store asked me if I wanted a screw, When I said I was looking for a screwdriver, he unzipped his pants and took off his belt. Unfortuanately my exbf came around the corner at that point...So anyway, I guess this does not help you. I think I would have decked her too. LOL. :) Why is a chick working in hardware anyway? What do they expect to happen? I think she got off easy.
