Was it a mistake to listen to this guy from human resources if he told me to go home early instead of my boss?

It was a slow day at work and I got up feeling restless to walk around and I went to use the bathroom and some guy comes over and takes a piss with me and he says: "Oh young man. Go ahead you can go home and leave early." and I am very surprised and I asked: "Who me?" and he says: "Yeah. I work in human resources. I know its slow in your dept so go ahead and get out of here. You have a great evening." and I was a little surprised so I said: "Ok thanks." I felt a little weird about listening to him because my boss didnt say anything but I assumed it was ok and take his word. SO I ENDED UP LEAVING EARLY SINCE I HAD PERMISSION FROM HIM (EVEN THOUGH I DIDNT KNOW HIM).

NOW TODAY, GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?!!!! I GET IN BIG TROUBLE FROM MY BOSS AND I GET THOUSANDS OF PHONE CALLS FROM MY JOB WORRYING ABOUT WHY I JUST TOOK OFF AND WERE LOOKING FOR ME AND MY BOSS PULLED ME ASIDE AND MADE MY HEART RACE SAYING: "UM I NEED TO SEE YOU FOR A MINUTE IN MY OFFICE. COME HERE." So he pulls me aside and taps me on the shoulder and closes the door and I AM IN BIG TROUBLE AND HE ASKS: "Why in the world did you leave early last night??? we didnt know where you were and you just left!!!!!!!" and I said: "Oh im so sorry,. What happened was someone from human resources told me I could go home early." and he said: "I DONT CARE!! WHO TOLD YOU THAT?!" And thats the thing. I didnt know his name but he was def from a different dept and my boss said: "IF YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN, I AM GOING TO FIRE YOU!!!!! YOU DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE BUT ME!" And I said: "oh ok. I understand. Ill check with you next time to be sure."

SO I WAS REALLY PISSED AND THATS NOT ALL THAT HAPPENED! I SAW THAT SAME HUMAN RESOURCES GUY TODAY AND I JUST LOST IT WITH HIM WITHOUT THINKING AND I HIT HIM HARD AND I WAS LIKE: "OH IM SORRY BUT LOOK, YOU TOLD ME WRONG INFO ABOUT GOING HOME EARLY LAST NIGHT!!" AND HE SAID: "TAKE IT EASY BUDDY. YOU JUST HIT ASSAULTED ME!! AND I DIDNT KNOW. IT WAS A MISTAKE. SORRY" THEN I SAID: "OH I DIDNT MEAN TO HIT YOU!" Then my boss comes in the bathroom and I got fired and in serious trouble for this and assault!!!!

So my question is, what should I do next time if this were to happen? I was just so irritated that I got in trouble especially from someone telling me permission to go home but now I am in more trouble for being aggressive and hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do I do? THIS NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THAT GUY FROM HUMAN RESOURCES USING THE BATHROOM WOULDNT HAV E TOLD ME MISCOMMUNICATION ABOUT LEAVING EARLY!! I DIDNT EVEN KNOW TO LISTEN TO HIM EITHER.

If someone that is not your direct supervisor tells you you can go home.

DON'T GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

They have no authority over you and you cannot use that as an excuse.

I manage 20 employees and would never allow anyone to leave early if they got the ok from anyone other than me or the other manager.

Usually human resources is above your manager, and can send you and your manager home early.
