The scandal, which started as a third rate burlgary of the DNC by members of Nixons re-election effort(CREEP)quickly evolved into lying,intimidation,enemies lists of journalists and intellectuals not approved of by president Nixon and climaxed with Judge Sirca,backed up by the Supreme Court, to release any and all tapes made during his presidency including the now famous "smoking gun" oval office tape of June21st,1972 in which the president is heard colluding with his senoir staff on how to get hush money to the burglars and illuminated a president utterly consumed by events that were no longer controlable.
