What's the deal with Prop 8...?

This is what I know (or at least think): the California court ruled that it's unconstitutional to ban gay marriage, so it was made legal. Then Prop 8 came along, and got passed.
But then there was something about Prop 8 getting shot down or something or what? Just please give me the full story, and also what the status of gay marriage is in California today. Thanks!

see the thing is is that some people wnat to go the traditionil way and do boy and girl and since theres so many people that think that way and same gender thay decided to judge it based on each state and if more people wnat same gender and oppistie or the just oppisite.
so thats pretty much it. oh and its not allowed in califorina
