What are my rights as a renter in COLORADO as far as having overnight guests?
Find answers to your legal question.

What are my rights as a renter in COLORADO as far as having overnight guests?

I have a landlord who is EXTREMELY nosey. Everytime he sees someone leaving or coming to my apartment he asks them why they are there...if they are staying with me, etc. In my lease it states no other persons shall occupy the residence other than myself and my two children. But does this include an occasional overnight guest? Does my landlord have a right to question me or my guests?

Most states like Florida, have a "landlord tenant act", and almost in every case, the liberal end goes to the tenant insofar as "rights". Your landlord is out of line. Just like the "habendum clause" in a deed, which is a "conveyance", a "lease" if you have one grants you both stated and unstated rights, and sometimes more rights when you lack it. Make a phone call to the Real Estate Commission at the state level, or whatever you call it out there, or get some legal aid for the appropriate answer to the question. A letter stating your rights, and given to him in the presence of a deputy, may cool his jets. He sounds like he wants to be in your "adult life" a bit too much, and that is creepy.

In VA if the lease does not forbid overnight guests, there is nothing a landlord can do if they failed to address it in the lease.

Obviously they can ask questions; and anyone can just smile and walk on. How long do you plan to live there?
